The Farmington at New Boston rarely runs during the summer, although I have been lucky enough to catch it in July. Spring and Fall rains will cause it to rise rapidly, and fall off almost as quickly. I'd guess it runs maybe 20 days a year. In October, the dam feeding Fall Creek (a tributary of the Farmington that joins it a few miles upstream of the section in the video is opened for two weekends and then all sorts of people show up.
There is an on line gauge.

If it shows 4.0 or more you'll get a reasonably fluid run. Above 5.0 it's pushy and continuous, and above 6.0 you'd better be on your game. Long and bumpy swims and runaway boats are possible at the higher levels.
