Prijon Pure XL conversion question - securing foam pillar

Post by johnd »

Hello everybody. I have Prijon Pure XL I would like to convert with a Dagger pedestal insert. I may possibly use this setup for creeking. I am assuming that I will put foam pillars in, which I know how to make already, and are needed to secure the Dagger pedestal. My question is: How would I secure the pillars in place once they are in the boat? I could anchor the pillar in back by cutting a notch into the foam seat. Is that adequate? Or would one have to drill holes in the top of the boat to secure it the pillar in back, and maybe in front. That's not going to help the resale value of the boat, obviously. However, I am thinking that securing the pillar may be necessary for safety reasons in case I get pinned, so the homemade pillars don't shift around. Thanks in advance for any suggestions.
