Not my night. Pulled the L'edge off the racks an noticed a 6" crack in the center of the hull under the front of the bulkhead. I have the brute 63 lb model and though it could handle the easy stuff I've been running!!!!! Have folks who've experienced cracks had any success welding? I'm new to the process. And just when I got the outfitting tuned perfectly....

Jamie Dors can weld for you if you want. He is in Guelph.

It doesn't look too complicated though. Ian123 welded his using this method http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5bos4lfOA3k&noredirect=1 and has been pretty rough on it since. Seems plenty strong.

However you weld, make sure to (for example using a scraper) take the weld down to the original thickness of the material and even out the surface completely. This is key to eliminate stress points that will eventually fracture again. The welded surface should feel completely smooth afterwards. Press the hot weld with a piece of smooth wood to smooth it a little while it's still hot. Good luck & let us know how it worked out!

I've cut one in two, removed 2' from the center and welded it completely back together with great results. (on the weld, the SL'Edge is a bit of a nitch boat haha) anyway, yeah... you should be able to do it. Here's a link to my welding project, its in there somewhere.

Isn't this something Esquif can do for you?

I have heard they stand by their boats and I figured that meant they would weld one if it cracks.
