anyone have any experience with the huck? Im 5'8'' 135. so lower end of the weight range as a k1, no idea how it compares to their newer creek models..... but I see one cheap and in good condition near me so thought id ask around and see what you all thought of that as a winter project.

No, I haven't had paddled one..but my friend had one for a short while. He was constantly demonstrating how much the huck sucked.
From where I sat, it was quite entertaining!

Gus is a much better hull, but there are quite a few newer iterations better than that.

Yeah i liked the look of the backbone already in place in LL and Jackson boats seems like it would be alot easier to build up a strap and bulkhead system off that then starting from bare hull..... and price point keeps me in the older hull market though

The same LL seat rail is in all the LL boats. Have you thought about a Remix?

Yeah thought about the remix or the detox (not sure if that onea around anymore) but those are tough to find used.... dont actually see alot of LL up here in NH now that I think of it, so used newer boat models are real tough to come by and finances keep me out of newer boats :-?

If you know anyone getting rid of a used remix though send em my way

What were the issues with the hull of the huck.....

you said hole bait Larry, was the hull slow? not enough stern volume? edges with too much bite? or just all together not enough volume? (at 135 I dont need much volume)

Ive read in reviews it was a tough boat to roll due to stern volume. so thats a definite negative for me

and what level of paddling was your buddy getting worked at?

thanks

FWIW, there is a used GUS on the market; $300 would likely take it. (NOT converted -- original K outfitting intact.)

Problem is -- it's on the West Coast. Shipping would be an issue -- it's too long for Greyhound.

PM me if you want the contact info.

Here's some vid of the Stuck, down here in VA. The victims last name is Carr, so this hole became the Carrstopper hole (Whitetop Laurel Creek, something like 20" on the paddlers gauge).
