Professorpaddle Ball 2012 PNW whitewater

Post by Paddler »

It that time of the year again! Festival season! And the Professorpaddle Ball is right around the corner. That’s right time to grab the girl/boyfriend, gas up the van and drive to an exotic location for a weekend of kayaking, fun, races, events, beer, ping pong, bonfires and camping.

If you’ve never been to the great state of Washington this year will be a good time to do it, with well over %100 snow pack in the state for the second year in a row, http://www.nwac.us/data/CLISNO" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; and drought conditions in the rest of the country what do you have to lose?

The Professorpaddle Ball is a two day event hosted by http://www.professorpaddle.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; a whitewater forum for the state of Washington, taking place over June 9th and 10th in Leavenworth, WA. List of events include:

Creek Race: icicle creek raft and kayak, class IV+
Wenatchee Rodeo: on the play section of the Wenatchee river feature TBD, class III
Downriver Race: Wenatchee, class III
Big Air Ramp: can be used all weekend to launch into the river for you play run or on Sunday for the big air comp.
Ping Pong Tournament: dollar entry, winner takes all, maybe pay for your gas if you got the skills.
Operation Aplets and Cotlets: midnight paddle down the Wenatchee river with a twist.

In addition to the official events there is ample opportunity to run other rivers around the local area, climb (trad, bouldering), mountain bike, and for the truly motivated, skiing. There is camping on location so no need to find camping or hotels, and the event location is right on the Wenatchee rivers play run. For those coming from afar it could be an opportunity to run some of the other Washington classics on the way to and from the event like the White Salmon, Ohanepecosh, Fall In The Wall, Skykomish, Icicle Creek, Nooksack and many, many more.

We'd love to see some c-boater out there this year, last year there was one c-1 in the creek race, I'd be stoked to see multiple c-1's routing down icicle creek!

So come on out and see the goods that WA has to offer, here are some links about the event and other local info. Can’t wait to meet every one and paddle all the goods.
