How many clubs does a golfer have? How many rods a fisherman? How many guns a hunter? As I like to point out to my wife - all the boats I *ever* owned don't equal one bass boat! You don't have too many boats.

I try to keep it to one boat in each category. pretty happy with the fleet at the moment.

tandem tripping canoe: starburst (w/ skirt)

tandem play OC2: old sunburst II (w/ solo seat as well)

OC 1: rival

C1 playboat: LL space cadet

C1 creekboat: WS Y

Just retired my previous ancient tripping OC2, and have an old Hahn style glass C1 that I left for dead several years ago, it might still be in one piece.

My current fleet is also based on only having "one of everything" and gives us lots of flexibility.

Nova Craft Prospector
Esquif Vertige X
MR Outrage
WS Score

If my legs get used to the Score and I stick with C-1, I would likely be looking to add a creek boat for river running. If my girlfriend starts paddling solo, we may look for another OC-1. That's as big as I can see it getting for me, unless I were to add a long, light, fast sea-worthy cruiser for ocean tripping.

Well, ohioboater, I just might have to join your minority...

Old Town 17' canoe (OC3 I'd suppose)

I suppose the old handmedown K1 (previously a failed C1 conversion by Adam) I have COULD count too. I make up for my lack of boats by an excess of bicycles. :)

Oh, well. I might as well add my fleet.

1 Mad River Outrage
1 Mad River Outrage-X
1 Esquif Vertige-X
1 Grumman 15'
1 Dagger Caption
1 Dagger Cascade
1 Morrison Hahn
1 Glass C-2 end holer
1 Kevlar C-2 end holer
1 Hydra C-2 two holer
2 Hydra C-2 three holers

I also have several worn out canoes stashed in the edge of the woods in back of my house

:o Louie, was that "1 Ovulation"? Does it lay an egg?

I have three tandems, two opens, three C-1s, and four mystery pods.

Based on previous comments, I think he is implying that Dagger did...

My count is six:

- DAG Scandal "Haka Wai", french made playboat C1, my favourite for whitewater of all kinds...
- OLD TOWN H2Pro "Kea", shortened (10') and cut down and not used that often, because it's too tippy and not too much fun...
- DAGGER Rival "Tamatea", up in the rafters of a friends house in New Zealand, therefore not used too often as well. Unfortunately...
- OLD TOWN Penobscot 16 "Marakihau", my favourite tandem tripping canoe...
- OLD TOWN Pathfinder "Taniwha", 15 years old and still going strong, the choice on smaller rivers and short trips...
- KANUGA SDT 17' "Kereru", Steve Killing designed wood stripper for those long solo trips (i.e. last year on the Danube from Bavaria to Bulgaria, 1200 miles), built by a friend...

A good selection, I find.

Lots of Daggers

Post by milkman »

I mostly have Dagger canoes ...

4 Dagger Phantoms
Dagger Dimension
Dagger Ovation
Dagger Legend
Dagger Venture
Dagger Genesis

Also in the fleet:
Bell Ocoee (a Dagger design)
Mad River Outrage
Evergreen Solito
Ally 811 folding canoe
Esquif Blast
Esquif Prelude

Favorite boat for solo playboating: Phantom or Solito
Favorite boat for tandem tripping: Dagger Dimension

Two of my three wishes ... That Dagger designs would be made again and that stronger Royalex would once again grace our hulls.
