Re: Blackfly Ion as first boat??
I'd like to demo an Option before I decide Totally agree! Truth be told, I really want an Option as well. I like the glassy slide of a longer boat at times. I didn't realize how much until I got back in the Probe 11 the other day. There's something to be said for the smoothness of a one-stroke, ban...

Re: Blackfly Ion as first boat??
Pretty much everything Bob said. I don’t think you’d go wrong by picking an Ion. I love mine. I had it on the Ocoee a couple of weeks ago and had a blast. I don’t feel at all limited by the boat at my current skill level. Yeah, I notice having to make an extra stroke or two on ferries, but it makes ...

Nose clips are totally unnecessary for open boating. A blanket proclamation such as this, stated unequivocally and voicing its message as incontrovertible, fails to acknowledge the diversity of physiologies that comprise the human species and could therefore be viewed as exclusionary or as denoting...

Re: C-Boaters with nose plugs?
Dang! I thought this thread was going to die. In the interest of keeping this interesting thread going: It's only a sport if it can cause you severe internal and/or external injuries. WW paddling qualifies. What "so-called" sports do not? I’m not sure I follow your line of reasoning here. Yes, most ...

Re: C-Boaters with nose plugs?
Ive trained my nose hairs to constrict the air flow I've trained my body to fill my nasal passages with snot, mucus, bacteria, etc. into an impregnable barrier. True story! To reach true Nasal Nirvana, however, you must coach yourself into hardening each component into a solid state. You will then ...

Re: C-Boaters with nose plugs?
This is one of the most incredibly interesting threads ever on CBoats! Yeah, yeah... I know it isn't a glamorous topic, and it's getting out of hand. I apologize for adding to the fire. I started not to post. It's just that I'm having some troubles I didn't use to have- trying to get a little info....

Re: C-Boaters with nose plugs?
-Smiley's- don't bother. They have never stayed on my nose no matter how much I washed my face. -Cottonmouths-seem to be pretty decent at staying on your nose. That's just my 2 cents...hope it helps. Yes, this helps. Smiley's are the only pair I've ever tried. Bought some a while back. You pretty m...

Re: C-Boaters with nose plugs?
Yep, the pool sessions are the worst, and I can see the flip turns giving you a nose full. I'll test the bubbling nose theory. I just worry about being able to maintain the necessary awareness to pull it off in combat situations. At my current skill level it takes all of my concentration to keep mys...

Re: C-Boaters with nose plugs?
Are nose plugs cool? Hardly, but I do think they are necessary for some people. I've never used them nor had the need to, but I've noticed that my sinuses are developing a progressive intolerance to the repeated nasal flushings the last couple of years. Maybe I just need to do a better job of stayin...

Re: Do only women like purple boats?
Depends on the purple. Mohawk purple- yes. Zoom- yes. The above l'edge? Heck NO! +1 for Bob and TNbound. My wife and I each have purple Mohawk Probe 11's, but I go with either red or yellow airbags while she uses either purple or teal. It's all relative, though. If I was flat broke with no canoe an...
