Re: Officially converting to C-1

... Long by today's standards, but the definitive "play" and "creek" boat at the time. -Magnet (in theory Class V will be producing them shortly) -Finkenmeister (again plastic) -Millbrook Hornet (narrowed / shortened Cascade is the best description) -The new River Elf boat, which looks very interesting ...

Re: Boat of the Week - Robson Finkenmeister

The low volume stern keeps me from getting stern squirted real hard(& flipped & subsequent loss of speed...)when I'm a little off line(nothing for the hole to grab). Lean it a little and it eddies like a champ. Not slow, I like the boat. Rand P.S. I don't use hip pads the bulkhead seems to do it for...

Re: Boat of the Week - Robson Finkenmeister

I've looked at getting a Finkenmeister a couple of times and always ended up scratching my head, I like the idea but I'm put off by the very low volume stern, it looks like it could give a heavier paddler the option of treating it a bit ...

Re: Boat of the Week - Robson Finkenmeister

I also have a Fink. I dont have much to add to what PAC said, thats pretty much the case. It took me awhile to love my Fink but its my boat now. I am in the cockpit as far forward as it will allow. When you roll, your arms need to be forward over the deck. It definetly saved my butt on the UY a few ...

Re: Boat of the Week - Robson Finkenmeister

Maybe this thread will inspire me to get mine on a river!! As with all C-1s, I've had to mess with the outfitting to fit myself in there, but I'm in the Fink because it's got a nice tall cockpit for my big legs (and it won't be as sketchy or uncomfortable as too-small-for-me palyboat conversions). I...

Re: Boat of the Week - Robson Finkenmeister

I never got used to the positioning of the knees and missed my roll to often in it. On the other hand I had lots of fun with it and it never let me down. Clearly a love / hate relationship. And it is fast: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iOuvlx580zA" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; (60 ...

Re: Boat of the Week - Robson Finkenmeister

Its a love / hate relationship (particularally for me when there are hip pads in the darn thing) and its big, heavy and has a bulbous nose, beaver tail and a rake that gets a lot of queer looks at put ins and take outs. Overall I REALLY like this boat - its a "go to" for cold weather or big creeking...

Boat of the Week - Robson Finkenmeister

One of the few purpose-built creek boats, the Finkenmeister seems to have a "love it or hate it' personality. Some folks have described it as difficult to roll. Most say it needs to be paddled aggressively (not a boat to just sit and brace in). ...

Re: Big Dog Force OC1 review

... C-1s. How would you compare/constrast it to, say, the Fink? Thx. Rick Rick, Yes, you should  ! The main differences between the Force and the Finkenmeister are, apart from one being decked vs one being open, that the Force trades off a little bit of speed for a more noticeable gain in maneuvrability ...

... two class two runs and one class three run. As a reference, my main boat is a Spanish Fly, but in the past I had a fair amount of experience in a Finkenmeister C1. I'm 185 lbs and the Everest floats me great. So, as far as weight goes, you are fine. As Paddler said, the Everest holds a line very ...

Re: Atom outfitting?

I have an Atom, I've started paddling it again after my Finkenmeister was stolen. I didn't remove any of the original outfitting but did add a few things. I added foam blocks to wedge my knees further apart and to make them more secure. I like my knees ...

... my extrabat as a race boat. As for convertions, you might find the Liquid Logic Remix 79 to your liking or even (if you can find one) a Robson Finkenmeister (which is built as a C1). Both of the Green Race boats (Green Boat and the Remix Stinger) have been converted, they're both comparatively ...

... I think a tremendous amount of credit goes to Frankie Hubbard. River is coming up again with Lee passing through... perhaps I'll finally break the Finkenmeister in...as long as to many roads don't wash out (as they did with Irene).

Sounds like you need a Prelude or Finkenmeister Tom.... or have one of the composite builders build you a bomber boat (would likely weigh the same as what you are used to, but be beefier and easily repariable:) ).
