Re: Non Conversion C1 Freestyle or River Play boat

... but some folks (say, Ian Thomson or Paul Danks) can do amazing things in a pointy boat (Massive Groove) in a hole... Pagan is excellent, as is the Wheelboy. If you are looking more for side surfing than vertical moves, the Amoeba is surprisingly good as well.

Re: BC Kootenay paddlers?

... Joel, but haven't seen them around in years. I think Joel's been off world travel'n and educating. I'll track down Roger and Allyson (sold her a Wheelboy) if I get that way. Sounds like there is more of a ww canoe community on the east side. There is the Columbia Canoe Club around here, but it's ...

Curved blade versus flat blade

... I was learning to paddle traditional canoes and never really liked the feel of a curved blade. I still paddle my traditional canoe but also have a Wheelboy and a Prelude. I still use a flat bladed paddle. Am I missing out by still using a flat blade with these boats? Is there a real advantage to ...

Pyranha I4

Hi I've jut been given a Pyranha I4. I've paddled it a a kayak and found it does not have sharp edges. Has anybody had experience of these as a C1. I currently have a Prelude and a wheelboy. The giant cockpit does look inviting after squeezing my 6'3" in and out of a wheelboy!

Re: C1 Playboating massacre!

... sound pretty normal. Like you, I started off in a Vision-56, and found it much too jittery. And I'm lighter than you, at 165ish. I switched to a Wheelboy, and found the extra width was helpful. I spent a couple of days in the WB on bunny waves at a playpark, and that helped the confidence immensely. ...

Re: Drakkar Wheelboy

I never ran anything big in my WB but SqueakyKnees (Shawn) run the Upper G in a couple times and came off with a winning grin. I did take its bigger brother the "Big Boy" down the Lower G when they first came into the country. It was glass and man was it fast on a wave and not bad as a river runner ...

Re: Drakkar Wheelboy

... the time the boat was launched, C1 boaters were very used to converting kayaks and the selection of convertable kayaks was wide and versatile. The Wheelboy design was actually very solid. SYOTR, Bruce Farrenkopf P.S. I don't use it as a river runner but now am curious about how well it would do. ...

Re: Drakkar Wheelboy

I paddled my Wheelboy today and again, had a blast. I weigh 194 lbs (88 kg's ?) minus gear. I feel I am at the upper weight range for the boat, so I feel that perhaps it is not quite the boat you might find fun. I don't use it for ...
