Thanks everyone!
Nice to hear from you Jim. If this trip comes off I will leave January 1, 2010; I hope I see you before then! I'm reading trong support for Bell, Sawyer, and Wenonah composite boats, which was my first impulse, before I started think ABS/whitewater. But over the weekend I traced most of the route us...

Woo-hoo! Baby Falls has grown to 17 feet tall!
Nice picture of Al Greve's daughter in the latest issue of Canoe & Kayak . She was 13 years old when the picture was taken at ALF-07. She's paddling the Splash (which he designed for her) on one of the upper ledges of the Tellico. No picture of her on Baby Falls, unfortunately, but the article menti...

Re: Missing one critical part
Molds come in male and female versions. A male plug makes a female mold, a female plug makes a male mold. Your Prodigy is already a male plug, skidplates are female as is the mold you'd knock off your boat. I guess I failed to express myself properly. I want to pull a mold. I already have a plug (m...

Are you confident that your list is complete?
Louie, why don't you post a list of the names that you sent hizzoner, so that those of us who never saw you at ALF can satisfy ourselves that we succeeded in getting into the drawing?

Pulling molds from ABS stem & stern, to cast endplates?
I have a nice new Prodigy X about to get its baptism at the Webster Springs Whitewater Festival this weekend. But before I start dinging up the ends too badly, I'd like to pull molds with which I can cast endplates for my beat-up old Prodigy ( and for the new one, so I'll have them ready when it nee...

SOLD! (Sorry, guys from Texas and Wisconsin, but I did say..
...that I would ship it out of town "only if I have to.")
I had a guy from 40 miles away show up at my door on Saturday evening for ir, with my asking price in cash, so I took it.

FS: Savage Skeeter, $400
10 years old or so, but only been in the river few dozen times. Needs one airbag, otherwise factory outfitting is complete. I'll include the cheap breakdown paddle that I've reworked to fit.

use tobacco first, then move on to the more expensive... don't twist too tight One time, around 1972, I was sitting in the driver's seat of my van while my girlfriend ran into the drugstore to get something. I was rolling up a Bugler, when suddenly the door flew open and I was looking at a badge. I...

Re: C1
Do you have a C1 you can practice with? My roll has never been perfect in an open boat (yet). I bought a scade a few years ago and got a good solid roll in it. It has helped my open boat roll greatly! Hey, there, Adam! No, no C-boat these days, but I share your experience. I always found the C-1 ea...

Rolling Coach in North Carolina? Eli?
I used to have a fairly reliable roll, then after being laid off work in 2001 and not boating much for a year and a half as I did an intense job-hunt (and getting wayyyy out of shape in the process) I worked my way back up to Class III/IV whitewater, but without a roll. I believe that I was just afr...

Thanksgiving Weekend Trip: What We Did (& What You Misse
I had about 12 or 15 people express interest in joining me for all or part of the weekend, but Jeremy Allen was the only one who wanted to head into West Virginia on Wednesday night and boat all four days. The weather prediction for the West Virginia Highlands was a high of 60 on Thursday, a high of...

West Virginia Paddling over ThanksgivingWeekend!
Jeremy Allen (a kayaker) and I are heading for Hico, WV (Ray's Campground, 6m N. of Fayetteville on US-19, 1/4m W. on US-60, 1m N. on Sunday Road) on Wednesday night, hoping to boat 4 days in WV. Since it will probably be only the two of us on Thursday we will do something easy; Lower Cranberry (1st...
