Re: T formex news?
The Esquif website has been updated with a description of T-formex construction. Each of their canoes that were made of Royalex now list T-formex as the hull material. I wonder when these canoes will be available to the public. I'm hoping they're shipping these boats to the states this spring. Anyon...

Re: Interesting Question from a Long Time Paddling Friend
I began paddling canoes in the early 80's and was very active until the early 90's. My wife and I had children at the end of that time period. Consequently, I began to paddle less often and my core group of boating friends drifted away from the sport. In 2001 I bought a new Whitesell and became an a...

Re: Question re. Royalex deterioration over many years
I have a 26 year old Whitesell Piranha that has been stored indoors since it was purchased. Despite limited use the hull has deteriorated. It has become stiff and cracks when the boat hits rocks, particularly on the stern and chine areas. The Royalex has become brittle with age. Unless you intend to...

Canoe Prototype and Test Hull Question
I recently saw a group of hulls that were made by Dagger for test purposes. The hulls were made with thin wood strips and glass, but without gunwales. There were glassed-in anchors for thigh straps installed with knee pads. I was told these hulls were considered to be plugs. My question is what stag...

Re: Drysuit cleaning
I also need to clean my suit. I purchased Nikwax Tech Wash to clean it, but am not sure if I should hand wash the suit or use my washing machine. Has anyone washed a Kokatat GMER in a front loading machine using Tech Wash?

Re: Substitutes for vinyl glue
Goodyear Pliobond is another substitute for vynabond. I've used it for bonding vinyl anchors to Royalex. This adhesive was recommended by the Blue Hole Canoe Co in the late 70's for bonding anchors to their hulls. I still see Pliobond on the shelf of hardware stores. It works very much like vynabond...

Re: Life expectancy of a drysuit
I have gotten 6 years out of a Kokatat Gore-tex suit paddling OC-1. Other than wrist and neck gasket replacement and a few small leaks that were easily fixed the suit hasn't had any problems. I put 303 on the gaskets every other trip. The socks are starting to get small leaks, but since they're the ...

Re: no water in Georgia
I agree with boatbuster about Chattooga Sect IV. The on-line gauge is 1.55' so it should be 1.35' on the bridge. That is more than enough water to run down to the lake. Seven foot falls is more forgiving at that level so you are less likely to bonk your head on the South Carolina bank. Want to go th...

Re: Hatin' on airbags
Anyone here live through the days of tractor inner tubes? Seems like the outfitting could have outweighed the craft... I used truck tire inner tubes in the early 80's in a Mohawk Whitewater 16 for paddling it solo. I made a ethafoam full length saddle for the center position. I thought that was so c...

Do you have any gorilla tape? I just busted my (stern, paddle, gunwale) again!
I wouldn't have swam that if I wasn't (hungover, tired, cold)!

Re: Reminder to cleanup after yourself (South Sauty in Alaba
I will be sure to mop up after taking a shower the next time I'm over there. I didn't know that a mop was available for that purpose. Thanks for bringing that up. I'll pass this along to the other Georgia paddlers that make frequent trips over to South Sauty. I had a great time paddling Sauty with y...
