Old-timers weekend on the Hiwassee
Interesting past weekend on the Hiwasee. I never saw so many boats putting on as I did Saturday morning, and I thought I had entered a time warp. I saw a lot of boats I hadn't seen for a while, at least not in one place, and a few I hadn't seen. A partial list: Dagger Prophet, Blue Hole Suburst (I),...

If you go to NOC be sure to try the Esquif Spark. I too loved the Viper 12. Had one and sold it years ago to buy a Dagger Prophet. Still have the Prophet and love it too. Upon the advice of Louie and some others here, i have turned it around and am paddling it "backwards " now. And I think it is bet...

The Delaware River is pretty tame (Class I with a couple of widely-spaced Class IIs) but it can be a delightful float trip and a great way to introduce your family to river paddling, if you wish to. Probably not best suited for a Taureau, however. Nescopek Creek (Class II+) near the junction of I 80...

My guess is
either 54"s or 60"s would work.
Harmony is now selling what appear to be the old nylon Voyager canoe flotation bags in 54" and 60" lengths: http://www.harmonygear.com/products/203803?n=1

Stabond
Mike Yee recommends using Stabond to reoutfit Royalex canoes in which the inner vinyl layer has been damaged or stripped. Stabond is an MEK-based adhesive. Actually, I would just try to get the foam and glue residue off. I have generally been able to do that using a mild abrasive pad (like the green...

Weldwood
Don't just mark the perimeter of the knee pad contact area on the hull. Make an "indexing mark" that goes out at a 45 degree diagonal from each corner of the pad. That will be much easier to see so as you make contact with the boat, and the pad will be easier to align. Put a coat on the foam first. ...

I assume you meant knee pads?
Like most people, I use DAP Weldwood contact cement, widely available, in a red and black can. The foam soaks it up quickly. Using the standard formulation, I use three coats on the foam, and usually 2 coats on the hull, to assure a good bond. There is a gel formulation that I have never used that s...

Spokane
I have no direct experience, but my daughter was married in Spokane 2 years ago. I was very impressed with the city and with the clear water of the Spokane River (Class II - III) running through it. The brother of my daughter's father-in-law and his wife run it regularly, and I got the impression th...
