WTB: 12' - 14' Royalex canoe
Looking for a hull in decent condition. Outfitting state not important. Interested in almost anything in the 12' - 14' range (not interested in a Dagger Impulse). Located in SW Ontario, not interested in travelling too far.

Re: L'Edge Cracking.
A quick search of this forum will reveal numerous posts and topics on cracking L'edges. The short answer is yes, the older models appear to be more prone to cracking than other plastic hulls. I owned a red 2011. It cracked. It welded up fine and life went on. There were 3 other boats in my area at t...

Re: Esquif Vertige
It depends what you're looking for. I have one I use for WW river trips that range in 3 to 15 days in duration. It holds all my gear, is super stable, is reasonably fast on the flats, is reasonably maneuverable when loaded in the WW and not a bear to portage when necessary. On the other hand, if I w...

Re: So where's the T-formex ?
I think some things could have been lost in translation but ultimately it states availability in the 2015 season - a year that has only just begun. A press release for a new canoe material is no different than a car manufacturer advertising their next model changes well before they arrive in showroo...

Re: Help ID this saddle?
I believe that is a saddle made by Beluga. The knee spacers are nice giving it a bulkhead feel. Some old boats were set up this way. The foam up front that matches the backrest allows thwart mounting front and back, however this isn't necessary in a royalex hull - contact cement will hold it down on...

Re: Solo Canoe Advice.
The Ocoee would be fine for your weight and may be your best bet. We had one along down the Lievre (60 km RII/RIII) this past fall with a 210 lb. paddler and about 50 lb. of gear in it. The edges take a bit of getting used to coming from an Outrage but the boat is lots of fun and fits what you're lo...

Re: T-Grip Dowel ???
I use dowel from the local Home Depot. I believe it's Maple. Get 1 1/4" diameter dowel. Length of the grip is really up to you but I prefer them on the wider side - about 4.75". You'll need a 1" fostner bit to drill out for the shaft. It's a lot easier with a drill press because you've really got to...

Re: Solo Canoe Advice.
...anyone over 200lbs paddle the regular Outrage? I had an Outrage and weigh 215 - 220. I kinda miss that boat. It was super fast and accurate. However with a growing fleet and less time I sold it to thin the heard. I was going to keep it as a multi day tripper but also owned a Vertige. I opted to ...

Re: A bad break
Oddly enough, I was looking at the serial number plates of all 4 Preludes I own and they're all 2008 vintage--even the new one I just got... One of the guys I paddle with recently got a new Prelude with a 2008 serial number. It cracked 4th time out on a class II rapid - on an obvious rock but one I...

Re: Edgey creekers: Octane 85 vs fly?
I'm also interested in comparisons as well as experience on how the 85 runs with a 220 lb weight. I would love an edgier & dryer fly in my next boat!

Re: Cracked Taureau
You may want to further investigate welding - I know of one Taureau that was successfully welded. It's unfortunate especially because that hull isn't being made anymore. I doubt you could have got a replacement anyway.
