Re: Whitesell Descender for sale in Pacific Northwest
Rats! Saw the 'sold' update, but not the 'for sale' ad :-? Hey neighbours, feel free to come meet more open boaters at our slalom race in 2 weeks: The 9th annual Tamihi Five-0 Open Canoe Slalom on the Chilliwack River: http://paddlenet.myfastforum.org/forum8.php&sid=dbe4d7445082cddea9c187ef82dfffbd"...

What's the dif between "RAC", "REC", "MASTERS", and "CITIZEN"?
Thanks, Pat.

Have you checked with Einar, Rick? I thought he knew of some old Quake lying around these parts? P.

Re: Question for Blackfly Option Owners
Thanks for the comments on the Octane, sounds like where I'm coming from: I just don't know if I could respect myself in the morning. And when I lean, I'd like my boat to notice.
On the other hand, if everyone else is cheating, why would I choose to suck?

Re: Question for Blackfly Option Owners
Thanks Rick, now would you just mind putting on some weight and also getting an Octane? You'd be my perfect guinea pig if you'd just get a little fatter please! My Ocoee still feels fun and relatively new to me, primarily because I paddle so infrequently, but when I have the opportunity to join a ru...

Re: Question for Blackfly Option Owners
Hmm, even though the Octane may have more edges than the Option, it's so wide and stable that I wouldn't describe it as edgy. I'm less concerned about the technical description of the hull, and more interested in which canoe let's me feel the river better. Maybe I should give the Octane a 2nd look, ...

Re: Question for Blackfly Option Owners
Thanks for the question wb. I'm 225 lbs and wonder the same thing. For the low volume rivers I tend to paddle, I think the Octane's mega-stability platform loses too much connection with the river. I like to be able to tilt my boats a little. I'm coming from an Ocoee and an Outrage. I hate to be a b...

Re: wallace wallacing
Glad you're OK first of all. Only you know for sure whether it was too sketchy for you too paddle that alone, but based on hindsight and video evidence, be careful out there! Other than blind luck, how did you get (your foot/leg?) unstuck? Anything we can all learn from it? Yeah, looked like a littl...

Re: Blackfly Canoe demos out west - where should we go?
I think Eli's issue was the teaching aspect and whether he was entitled to work in Canada? Either way, if there are cross-border hassles I'm sure folks from Vancouver we be happy to come down and meet in N WA on the Skykomish or something, possibly in conjunction with the Paddle Trails club there. Re: Blackfly Canoe demos out west - where should we go?
OK thanks! So, 7ish weeks after June 15th-ish, ending in BC, would mean that in your ideal world BC has some suggestions for early-August-ish? That's kinda the doldrums for local paddling, and conflicts with prime holiday time when folks are away, but for that reason we did do a few self-organized, ...

Re: Blackfly Canoe demos out west - where should we go?
Questions right back at ya... What time do you think you might be around? Let us know if you've got any best guesses or restrictions. What do you have in mind? To put it bluntly, what do you need to make it worth your while? I wouldn't want to encourage you to come out of your way for something you'...

Re: Nova Craft Ocoee Opinions
What are the numbers we're talking about?... For a Dagger Ocoee how wide is the boat as measured at centre, outside to outside of gunwales? I'm pretty sure I've seen different specs/measurements mentioned in different places, maybe because quite a few people made personal changes to the width? What'...

Re: Fiberglass Mold Making
Einar, I don't have the full T50 results until they forward us a spreadsheet, but I can tell you that if you had a clean run, you'll be ahead of a number of people, including me (though I dispute the touch they gave me on gate 15 [unless of course it could've been my stern exiting the outside pole w...

Re: Open boat for a bigger paddler
Good story Rick, I agree there's stuff to be considered there, but, ...I'm guessing your "student" was not 300 lbs? I think that's the major factor in the above advice. As a relatively experienced paddler myself and being 225 lbs, I can say (lots of) weight matters for the responsiveness and dryness...

Re: Open boat for a bigger paddler
If he won't go for the Octane 91, Outrage X or Blast outfitted solo, a Veritge, or Viper 12 for more performance, or even an Outrage or Rival maybe. And those older boats like a Genesis work good too - I'd include H2Pro on the list, depending on what oldies you're able to come across. He could also ...
