... maybe the painter wouldn't have matter? Wanted to illustrate, just how dangerous it can be to grab hold of a overturned canoe. It was a full sized OCA with out bags. Jim was helping set up a slalom course, and when then canoe flipped... he simply grabbed hold to flip back over, and ooops it was ...

Blue Hole OCA Canoes

If I had access to a couple of good condition Blue Hole OCA Canoes -- what would be the going price?

By "good" I mean:

* none of the middle layer of Royalex is showing
* outside layer is lighter yellow than production
* still float

I will have t chime in on the OCA. While it is a little slow on the lakes, you will find it to be great for flat water rivers, class II and III rivers. It can be used as a river tripper, which has been my main use for it with my 2 daughters. ...

The Blue Hole OCA is similar in shape and dimensions to the Dagger (now Mad River) Legend 16 so it will share its virtues (capacity, stability, dryness) and deficits (slowness on flat water, susceptibility to adverse winds due to ...

OCA

Spence the OCA is 16'. It will handle class 2 ww even loaded. It was the do it all boat for years, has a long flat bottom so is susceptable to winds.
There is a lot of people with tripping experience who will be able to tell you more.

Question about Blue Hole OCA.

This is related to my previous thread titled "I need advice on buying a tandem canoe..."

A friend has offered to sell me his Blue Hole OCA (not sure of the length). Does anyone know how it would perform on the lake or on easy whitewater with camping gear/kids?

To clarify, I'll be using this boat to carry 1-2 small kids

... I plan to do a lot of lake paddling so it's important that it performs fairly well on flat water. A friend just offered to sell me his Blue Hole OCA. Does anyone know how it would perform? I'm guessing that it would be cumbersome like my Discovery, but also realize that it's a classic boat and ...

Tough composite boats

... to pay royalties on each boat." I firmly believe this is not a private vs. commercial use or an old- vs. new-design issue. You mold a Blue Hole OCA and build one Kevlar OCA, and I think you should ask permission. I really think one can build a composite boat which is as tough as PE; I think ...

See that the tandem OCAs are trimmed close to level. A little bit bow up is ok, but not a lot.

The first solo downriver race on the Ocoee was won by a friend of mine in a Blue Hole OCA.
