I concur on the Surform. I prefer one like this as it lets you get more pressure to break through the skin.

Re: tandem rolling
My brother and I paddled C2 together for many years - both in a cruising C2 on a range of rivers as well as racing in wildwater c2s. For when we needed to roll, we always rolled like mkoeppe wrote. Both of us are naturally righty and originally learned to roll that way. In C2, I typically paddled st...

Re: $25 Buffalo Canoe Project. Can I fix it?
Where are you hoping to paddle it? That is about as beat a hull outside as I have seen. I'd be tempted to try something simple and cheap, like 20mm pipe wrap tape, such as http://www.homedepot.com/p/2-in-x-50-ft-20-Mil-Pipe-Wrap-Tape-53550/100179778" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; We ...

Great condition Dagger Cascade in Roanoke VA
I bought this about 6 months ago as a potential replacement boat for my Gyramax, and after paddling it for a few times have decided it is not the hull for me. The hull is in great condition and well outfitted - ready to use. I am in Roanoke VA but get around some within a few hundred miles of here a...

Great information - thanks for posting your experience.
I'd be curious to see outfitting pictures of how you have it set up.

Re: Jackson Karma L vs River Elf Storm Chaser M - help me pi
Well, I picked a Storm Chaser. Chris was great to communicate with about the boat, but I was trying to get a test paddle in prior to purchase. His brother Trevor brought up a demo boat and a new boat to meet me near Nashville TN where I had traveled for New Years, which was great and so nice to do. ...

Re: OC2 instruction
Maybe some slalom oc2/c2 training would be a good start to focus on getting coordinated together? A large part of c2 is communication and coordination with your partner, and slalom would be a viable way to get that and maybe a readier way to find instruction than for oc2 cruising. You should be able...

Re: AB edge breakdown?
I have a 3-piece Werner Bandit breakdown canoe paddle. It is a nice paddle - slightly heavier than the one piece due to the sleeves that join it together - but paddles just like a 1-piece paddle when assembled. No one stocks it as far as I can tell, so you have to get someone to order it from Werner...

Jackson Karma L vs River Elf Storm Chaser M - help me pick
So, I've tried and don't care for the Cascade and am planning on a different boat. I've read all the postings here and narrowed to these two. I can't find anyone who has paddled both of them. About me. I'm 46, c-boating since 16, active wildwater racer roughly 96-04, mainly mellow family boating sin...

Re: Wanted - New Wave Viper C1
Thanks to KNeal, PAC and creek1r for your responses. I purchased a beautiful Viper from creek1r today and took it out surfing this afternoon - what great fun - fast, stable and smooth. It is going to be fun to practice in and learn to use it well. It is amazing that within a couple of days of postin...

Wanted - New Wave Viper C1
Preferably full cut but would consider any.
I'm located in southwest Virginia but get around the East in general.
I know there are a number of these out there.
Thanks, Russell

Re: Stern "squirting" in a Cascade C1?
Thanks Ed. Yes, I raced with my brother in a white c2 with blue stripes - I was in the back. Fun times. We each had kid 1 in 2004 and no more racing after that - exercise and casual runs in Tip Tops are the only wildwater since.

Stern "squirting" in a Cascade C1?
I'm 45 and have paddled C1 since I was 15. I've always had a Gyramax as my cruising C1 - still have one. I've paddled a number of wildwater C1s, but not many cruising C1s. I have literally hundreds of days in a Gyramax. I purchased a Cascade recently and have paddled it 4 times. I'm about 175 lbs. I...

Re: Tandem boating, but drier. . .
Go with a Duet. We've runs ours all over - many times down Upper Gauley, which is a great run for it. Great enders and wave surfing. Also many Chattooga Section 4 runs in it, as well as playing on the Ocoee. It takes a powerful hole to ender - He11 Hole is marginal, while Slice and Dice is good. Unl...
