Re: T-Formex, the next generation of ABS
Encore? That is amazing that you still have one of those, Jim. Sounds like you have worn the Royalex down to where it is "supple like a glove" … I did not know a canoe could survive being turned inside out!

Re: T-Formex, the next generation of ABS
A couple of weeks ago I wrapped my Encore around a rock and it got turned inside out. After finally Z-dragging it off the rock I was able to pop it back into shape and keep on paddling. T-Formex may be 10 times as abrasion resistant as Royalex ...

... so when you lay it over and dirve it into an eddy, it spins right in. I loved my Outrage, and my Ocoee is my best tight creeker, but I love my Encore!

Re: Canoe for the Grand Canyon
Ive been able to run it 4 times in various OC1s , Sunburst, Madriver Howler, Whitesell, etc. If you can find one the best overall would be a Dagger Encore i think. Enough speed for the flat sections,
but cuts across diagonals well too.

Re: You're Going to Run That in a Canoe 4
Great stuff! Good ender, good tandems, loved seeing the BC boaters (very smooth Heather!), but best of all has to be the pre-flip nose plug from the Encore!
Cheers, Pat.

Re: revisiting the venerable grunch pad...
I recently picked up an old dagger encore that was gone to hades. The outside was worn off the bottom and was delaminated pretty bad. Most of the foam core was completely rotten. It was cracked through to the inside also. I tore out all the ...

Re: Labor Day! Trinity River CA! Who is coming?
Awesome! I'll be driving the bright red F-150. I'll have what I imagine will be the only Encore and most likely the only Cascade C-1 on the river. I'm not sure where I'm staying yet, most likely I'll be somewhere around the Shasta Paddlers. Oh, and I'm six five with ...

Re: Nor cal open boaters? Resources??
By that time I should have my prototype 'Beowulf' up and running, so I might be down to let you borrow my Encore. This isn't a 'you break it, you buy it' deal though. Its more of a 'you break it, you find me another circa late 80's LIGHTLY used Encore'. 8) I can probably make ...

I'll be there man!
I just picked up a Dagger Encore (circa 1989) in good shape for a measly 200.00. Painted it red and I'm fixing up the outfitting now. Gonna go old school this fall! .

... reason you are thinking of upgrading. The PRO might be a lil faster than a Probe, but not much. If you want faster, I'd look at an Outrage X or an Encore...and perhaps someone on this forum could comment on the Bell Prodigy X. I spent some time in a standard Prodigy and liked it OK (not as much ...

... will throw rocks at me for this, but if we're talking about 13 foot boats that can handle some weight and are still fun to paddle I'd look for an Encore if you can find one that hasn't been beaten to death. Good luck, and now I'm going to go and hide behind my truck while everyone is looking for ...

Re: Boat of the Week - Mohawk Maxim
... a royalex (mine was not royalite) hull, and a pump/NiMH battery, it was still super light. I really enjoyed the short length after coming from an Encore. I only paddled it for about 10 months before I got a L'Edge, but in that time I grew faster as an open boater than I have in my entire paddling ...
