... my knees which prohibits me from paddling a C1 (I had a Cascade briefly, but couldn't stand the pressure on my knees). I'm 5'9" 175lbs. I had an Encore for a while and loved it, but sold it to go lighter and dryer. I don't paddle anything over class III. Rarely flipped the Encore - only when ...

OC1 advice

Hey gang! I'm looking for a playboat. I've been paddling an old school Encore and a Dagger Honcho. I loved suring the kayak, but can't seem to get the open boating out of my system. I'm 6'4", 230. Any suggestions for a good compromise?

Mad River ME) tried it out in some class 2 and was swimming again, but decided that I needed one , so I went out and got myself a brand new Dagger Encore (used canoes were virtually impossible to find in Europe at the time). Er, yeah. Avoid the rocks.

Brought the Viper out today, paddled for five minutes, switched it out for an Encore. Just wasn't feelin' the C-love today. BUT it was beautiful day for paddling - fog on top of the mountains and hills, rainy, all sorts of fun weather, and a bigger release than ...

... some excitement. Or spills. Y'know, whatever. I probably won't be bringing the Viper out, though; if I end up going solo, it'll likely be in the Encore (although....). Either way, should be a great time, and if you see us, say hello! And speaking of the Viper, it's still looking for a good home...

I paddled the Snake River south of Jackson a few years ago. Rented a Dagger Encore open canoe from a shop in Jackson, very nice people, they may have had a C-1 for rent, I did not ask. The run is class 3ish at most, a few good play spots, two good surfing waves, ...

Any idea how to repair a crack in an ABS OC-1?

... to just about any reasonable product, including epoxy resin, epoxy putty, and vinylester (not as good as epoxy). ... I cannot imagine a C-1 being stable with a 9 inch saddle, but I guess stability is a matter of taste and boat type. My open boat is a Dagger Encore, with a nine inch saddle, and it is extremely stable (so much more than my Z boat that I creek in the Encore). Posted on Aug 22, 2002, 1:45 PM ...
