The BG had alum rails along the sides to which I anchored the leg restraint. I used "sticky neoprene" on the sadd...

Black Rock dry pants have a high, tight waist and are as reasonably dry as could be expected. $140.

Re:
Had a little exp. with one a friend had for solo. Fast, rolls easy, handles like a much shorter boat. Will side surf forever whether you want to or not. Bag it to the MAX!!! Bilge pump would be great also. The hardest part will be fore/aft trim - critical with Howler.. I had to call MR to get specs....

If you are always...
facing the bottom, are you doing a back deck roll? When I flip, I bend fwd at waist with helmet against paddle shaft which is extended fwd against boat. Sweep out still facing up then rotate to face down and snap.

Hi Bill
Dont know if you've been in touch with the old Roanoke paddlers. We had a going away party at Ruthie's home for Dave Baer and Susan few months ago. Dave retired to the mountains of Costa Rica. I'm C-1 (conv. Riot BigGun) and at 62 still doing Cranberry, Goshen, Noli, etc. Get your ears wet!

Viper vs Rodeo
I use to have Mohawk Edge 14. Also paddled Viper 12 several years. IMO the Rodeo is based on the Edge. Same rocker and hull profile. Exceptional handling but wetter than Viper.

Protector
Most popular is a Cascade Designs helmet and faceguard. I use a slalom ski gate deflector for ski helmets, Weighs nothing, strong, single bar, Screwed to Seda kevlar helmet easily. Not as much protection as Cascade guard but lots better than nothing.

Gank
Pour boiling water into area and change as cools until hull warm on outside. Empty and push. Could carefully use heat lamp or heatgun in addition on outside. Small dents in hull can be lifted with no push with careful use of heat gun on ouside of hull.
