... false; this link has the swell height and locations of decent breaks. Stoney and the river outlets are the best. If there's a wind, there's a wave. Winter is usually best for the surf spots. Where do you usually paddle up there?

Re: Option vs. maxim
... more forgiving when tilted the wrong way. It's also easier to paddle flat. You're much less likely to accidentally tilt it and carve off a surf wave or flip in a seam. A local paddler paddled a Maxim for several years and then bought an Option. You never see him in the Maxim anymore and he's ...

... their rolls, and I was hoping to make it. I learned to roll a kayak in a pool, after trying a bunch of times with a buddy in the Eddy of the play wave in Buena Vista. It's easier to learn in the pool, it's warm and you can see what your doing and where your spotter is. As for the exact dates of ...

... shift in that you have to learn to paddle dry--particularly if you don't use an electric pump. A bulbous bow helps, but you also have to learn wave blocking and work on your stroke timing to lift the bow at the right time. Canoeists will often avoid water features that might dump a lot of water ...

Re: surfc1
Yes. I have an ic surf kayak converted to c1.
Have a look on Facebook search C1 Kayak Conversions.
It's a 3m boat. A real handful but it is so fast and fun. There is no better feeling than falling down the wave face in a surf specific boat.

Like Adam, I like my Viper for the ocean. Tough part is getting out through the breakers. Once you're on a wave, keep the bow up, particularly if you're surfing the shore break. If you pearl, you'll probably ender, unless you tilt way over to shed the water quickly. I have planted ...

Advertised to empty at 16 gallons per minute however I've swamped the thing going through larger wave trains on the Hudson and feel it takes less than 30 seconds to completely empty the boat. ... your thigh straps will hold you in the boat longer than one or two roll attempts. I think there is a video of me rolling your Viper at the play wave on the NB some years ago where I succeeded but the skirt popped off as I slid out of the straps. Made it to shore though. Granted I was more athletic ...

The boats are insanely fast and efficient to paddle. I've never had anyone to paddle with. I do have a waterproof VHF, and always ...
