Sailplanes and canoes have...
Sailplanes and canoes have similar weight trim issues, in one incorrect trim causes great surfing, in the other incorrect trim causes terminal "purling". A sailplane trim correcting adjustments as applied to a canoe: find the canoes centre balance point and mark it. Guesstimate the desired position ...

in thier time
For me it wasn't just that Esquife made canoes, it was that they pushed into new territories of design, creating new ideas themselves and promoting others ideas, enabling new technique in paddling, pushing canoeing into new rivers and style. Other manufacturers have made a good contributions too but...

Re: The end of ESQUIF..... :(
Interesting. Esquife shut down this year in French (2015) and was shut down last year (2014) in English. Maybe there is a little opportunity to arbitrage le difference. If you are dickering over dimes on a 2nd hand boat purchase it might be time to close deal. Quickly. In spite of the 'net word does...

Milkman, I think you bought a welder (previous thread)
Did that work out, were you happy with the buying and doing, speaking amateur to amateur.

On Crack s?
You should see my old, very old Viper 12, slathered up with whatever was lying around the shop floor and loaned out to all comers; just paddle it and bring home the airbags if you wreck it. I got tired of others having too much fun so now i use it for rock s and roll s. Nothing lasts forever but it'...

Re: PFD
For OC-1 I have a Kokatat Pro, liked it. Bought an Astral Green Jacket, love it.
Very flexible, and it doesn't bulk up in the front when I'm sitting lower in my kayak.

The 'other" dry land practice
The 'Other' dry land practice. Practice holding your breath. I can see the reply: "practice holding your posts Roll technique counts and practice helps, but the desire to breathe seems to be the Defeater, putting the driven need to get the head out of the water seconds ahead of the desired need to g...

Canoe to kayak trans
I learned to roll in a canoe and as per average it took a while but I got it. After years i decided to take a kayak rolling session in a pool. I got it instantly, clean first try, and thereafter. Now that is a pool session and proofing it in combat has been a little more stressful but... I notice ne...

How's your season so far?
Thought I'd drive up to 4000' and check on the snow pack for the spring melt and runoff on the local rivers. Didn't bother bringing my skis, i don't have that kinda wax anyways.
How's the season out your way this year?

Re: Dry land rolling practice
My excuse is my "ample waistline" bumps over the gunnel and slows me down. It also seems to de'amplify my hip snap, limiting it's distance of travel.
Lean guys seem to roll easier.
It's not my reason, it's just my excuse.

ALF site onWeb?
O.K., it's me, I'm a klutz. But i can't seem to connect to any site that outlines ALF as an event. Any pointers to any sites with info? Cadster's link doesn't seem work, for me. (refer to klutz) Maybe there isn't one, just show up; Tennessee doesn't seem that big. If I show i'll be mooching off of r...

Re: what did you sell or buy this year?
Bought an Occoee (finally) Cut up a Viper 11 with a sawzall and junked it. Kept the bow and stern sections to use a beer coolers. Sold a Spanish Fly, regretfully. Bought a Mamba that allegedly has C-1 potential, .... although I don't. Looking fro a glass Prospector 14' for solo gunkhole camping and ...

wheels
Nice idea.
Lube up the wheel bearings though, if the tow'er is going 70, then the smaller wheels on the trailer are going 100, revs that is, aprox., more or less.
