Great pictures. Let's see it on the water! The boat looks sweet. I love seeing the transformation.

Where do you get the gunwale material? Is it made for that purpose?

I kept my decks, on the floor of the garage after I removed them
Smurf, what were your goals for making the big cut? Aesthetics? Weight?

Is it a real pain-in-the-butt to take airbags in and out (with the decks on)? I'm in habit of removing my airbags between trips for fear of mildew.

You should easily be able to squeeze an average sized drybag behind the saddle and clip it in. Deflate the airbag... shove it in... clip it to the lacing and blow the bag back up. I clip (caribiner) my throwrope to the lacing on top so it's quick and easy to get to... same thing we've done for year...

L'edge: is anyone keeping the decks?

Has anyone bought a decked L'edge with the intention of keeping it that way (not cutting the decks off)?

If you have a decked L'edge, how do you store a dry bag, spare paddle, throw rope etc... Is there room to squeeze stuff past the bulkhead?

I think the trailers are on YouTube, which uses Flash. But when I actually bought a video, there was a non-Flash file to download.

A lot of smart phones won't do "flash". ESP, I don't think Flash is involved. I received a link to download an .Mov file. It may be worth a try to Google "play .mov file on [name of your smartphone]." For example, an iPhone can play .mov files, although apparently some conversion is first required ...

Nice. I downloaded the surfing video. There were some interesting pointers. I'll definitely watch it a few more times before I go on the river again. I only wish the video was longer, but 2 bucks is less than a cup of coffee and the tips were worth it.

Thanks for the replies. I decided to hold off on the Maxim. I'm not in a rush for a new boat, so I'll take to opportunity to try out some different boats over time. If you don't have the basics, you'll get into bad habits due to tippy canoes. Anything in particular to watch out for? I've been mullin...

Thanks for all the speedy replies. My initial objective was to simply to find a new boat that's more responsive than the Outrage, while still getting me down the river. Sounds like the Maxim is more of a specialized item? I don't mind a bit of a learning curve, but it sounds like the effort to rewar...

Maxim for an intermediate paddler?

I've been paddling an Outrage since I started whitewater canoeing. I paddle with my local club, and in the last year I've been moving up from 2+ to some 3-3+runs. Lately, I've been considering stepping up to a less stable/more maneuverable boat. Maybe something along the lines of a Viper or Ocoee. W...

Turn it off. When people get to your homepage for the first time, they'll be in the mindset of scanning for information. They'll know how to start the video, if they want.

Besides, visitors may be at work with their speakers on.

Hi. I'm a long-time lurker. This is my first post. By chance, I recently attended a drysuit care and repair clinic hosted by our local paddle shop. The Kokatet rep urged us NOT to use wash-in durable water repellent treatments. He said it would impair breathability: DWR should only be applied to the...
