Disposing of a trashed c-boat.

... your experience when you have to get a useless boat off your property? Dump it in a ravine? Negotiate with your trash pickup service? I once had a Sage that had cracked terminally below the seat pedestal. The trash people would not touch it until I cut it in half and piled it vertically into a ...

Re: A bad break

... A thing to watch is scratches inside a PE boat caused by sandy heels or similar. These can propagate into complete splits. I lost my venerable Sage Miss Piggy from inside scratches where my big feet scraped the inside. If you find splits in a foot scratch zone more than once, consider lining ...

Re: Boat of the Week - Perception Gyra Max

... as responsive and the lack of real edges to carve on caught me a bunch - but it was a huge step up from the centaur and lightyears ahead of the sage. The outfitting was actually pretty good - decent saddle, good straps. no major complaints.

Boat of the Week - Perception Gyra Max

... a big fan of the boat, but admit that at the time it came out it was ground breaking (it IS high performance... compared to it's predecessor the Sage...). https://www.cboats.net/c_db/list.php?type=1&alpha=G&boat_id=82&name=Gyra%20Max" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; Please post ...

Tippecanoe

... (Open boats are easier, as are converted kayaks because the cockpit is quite large.) My first c-1 was a Hahn, and after wasting some time in a Sage, I bought a second hand Phoenix Seewun. It is a very swedeform boat. From the beginning, I noticed a tendency for the bow to bury and the stern ...

boat advise for semi-newbi?

Any sage advice I am 52, 5'10, 168 pounds and with some aging knees, been paddeling a monster Probe 14 Tandem- Building muscles I suppose, want a small, quick and especially light boat 12' or shorter and under 70 lbs. Class 1 to 4. Live in north Alabama can drive to Mohawk to try theirs.

Re: Trash Talking

After the Sage had a little incident with a rock and water and spiderweb cracked most of the (plastic) boat I kept it until I found another one. Once I had the "new" one I tried to give the old one a way for the saddle and outfitting. ...

Re: How do you dispose of old trashed Royalex hulls

You could take it to ALFest, sneak over to Louie's trashed Royalex dump, and leave it there. I couldn't get the trash truck to take my old poly Sage until I sawed it in half and put the pieces, vertically, in a trash can. A guy near where I live has made a mailbox tower out of the front half of ...

Boat of the Week - Hydra Duet

... I suspect that will continue. Of all the plastic boats from the 80's I think I know of more of these still around than anything else (certainly Sage's!). Great for taking inexperienced paddlers and kids down easy WW for an intro, and as you can see in the images we already have more challenging ...

Re: Boat of the Week - Perception Sage

I learned to roll in a sage - or more correctly I got my first roll in a sage - it was easier to roll than the 80 cm Hahn that I also had access to... It wasn't bad compared to the 17' grumman with a lake keel that I also had access ...

... polypropylene. I learned to roll it and eventually ran Chattooga 4, the Ocoee, Chauga Gorge, and the upper Conasauga in it. Then I switched to a Sage, which was a mistake. I think the spiritual descendant of the Hahn may have been the Magnet. I paddled one borrowed from Andy Bridge, but wasn't ...

Re: For Sale - Perception outfitting. Currently attached to

Lasted about 5 years, and then I felt cold water coming up between my feet. My Sage was known as "Miss Piggy" in our Georgia c-1 circle. A friend was always trying to sell me his Atlantis. "Try this, and you'll throw rocks at that Sage!" But I was too big for most ...

Re: For Sale - Perception outfitting. Currently attached to

The trash men wouldn't take my cracked Sage when I just put it by the curb. I had to cut it up and stick the pieces standing up inside a garbage can. :o My Sage pedestal went inside a slightly used Phoenix c-1, and I still have one of the Sage ...
