Re: Monstar vs Flirt Large for big guy

I paddled a large Flirt for a few years at 190 lbs. I'm not much of a play boater.

The boat was very stable to the point of being hard to roll.

Re: Monstar vs Flirt Large for big guy

Thanks, Mikey. There is a local shop that had a kayak version I was thinking of buying. They would probably let me try it out, but it would have to be converted to really tell. Might have to roll the dice I guess, see how it works out. That or the Monstar. It would be cool to have something that run...

Re: Monstar vs Flirt Large for big guy

I haven't paddled the Monstar but have a lg Flirt. I like it a lot, but at 190lbs I feel it has a bit too much volume for me for serious play, so it might be pretty good for you :)
Where are you located? Might find some locals with boats to try?

Re: C1 Playboating massacre!

The Fluid Flirt is very stable as a C-1...the large especially so, but once you get adjusted to it you might find it a bit big for some of the moves. It also surprisingly makes a pretty nice river/play boat.

c1 conversion playboat suggestions?

... outfitting (not holding my breath). I've heard good things about the flirt, or the nemesis and I've watched some Chapelle videos and man he kills ... There is a used small flirt and nemesis for sale close by. Also a Large flirt, but I'm guessing they wouldn't be ideal. I like to be challenged ...

Larry, my saddle is 6 1/2". The large Flirt is really roomy though. I use the balls of my feet also...don't use pegs if I want my feet flat, which is how I prefer it most times. I think it helps having them angled in ala the l'edge seems to be. But I agree pegs probably not great in most conversions

Large Flirt

I think you'd be okay in a large Flirt. I know some think it's slow, but I never have any problems keeping up with my buddies in their bigger open boats. It's a very comfortable hull to paddle and still quite playful.
