Re: Northwest Paddle Fest 2017
I didn't make it to Methow last year (super excited) but for the rest of the PNW, I went drytop all summer. I don't think I wore a drysuit once. To put my cold water tolerance into perspective, I also wore a drysuit for the last two ALF races, but that's about as cold as I'll go

Re: Seattle Area Paddling
Jay, Definitely get in touch with Paddle Trails, Dave is good people. I boated with them last summer on the Blackfly tour, and had a blast. Skykomish is 90 minutes ish from Seattle, depending on where you're coming from, and at the level I did it, it was somewhere in between Cheat Canyon and Lower Y...

Re: Boat for Grand Canyon
Your options in Flag are limited. Moenkopi has a barge of a whitesell hanging from the rafters, I think Seiba has a sort of canoe too. Jim Michaud has an Outrage stashed at an undisclosed location, and I would give REO a call too, they might have one. Something to consider, depending on the flight, ...

Re: Blackfly Canoes - Where should we go in 2017?
I think we can try and put Boise on the schedule on the way out to or back from the PNW.
For PNW boaters, keep the week of June 28th in mind, we're aiming to have a week out in the area to paddle with everyone, including boat demos, free clinics, and instruction. We'll have more details soon!

Re: Rolling a Blackfly
He's doing a standard low brace roll, just flipping to his offside. The playboats (Blackfly and Delta) are so short that they are way less forgiving of sloppy technique. The hp snap is so much more critical. When I watch people struggling to roll the playboats I see a few commonalities: rushing - no...

Re: Blackfly Canoe demos out west - where should we go?
If you're cruising out to CA via I-80, be sure to swing by the Reno Whitewater Park (formally known as Wingfield Park) on the mughty Truckee River right smack in the middle of downtown Reno. It's a great little park, with two major channels (north channel has some meaty holes at the right flows and...

Re: Blackfly Canoe demos out west - where should we go?
Does this mean the grand canyon boat is going to be ready by the end of May? Is it just going to be for self-support trips or will it be small enough to use unloaded on a raft supported trip? Any plans to leave one in Flagstaff for rental? I'm launching on 5th Sept and still trying to decide what b...

Re: Question for Blackfly Option Owners
The way I look at buying a new boat is, if I buy a plastic boat and don't like it, I am reasonably confident I can sell it quickly for close to what I paid for it. I'm assuming this is doubly true in the PNW
