Re: What next?
Maybe it's not a materials issue but a design issue: Kayaks come in 2-3 sizes optimized for different paddler weights and dimensions. Y'ever see a chick paddle a L'edge with her armpits in the Gunwales? Maybe for smaller paddlers the Zoom isn't as upside-downy, but why are they forced into a certain...

Re: What next?
This is a hugely important point she brings up. There are very few canoes on the market that an average female can pick up and put on the top of her own car (let alone hike out of the upper green carrying comfortably) We often discuss weight as a convenience or as a factor of how the boat paddles, b...

Re: While paddling a canoe I prefer to keep my feet...
Feet on the pegs; slide 'em back in the flats so I can change position for a while (not always necessary) 2 questions: I scrungle my toes flat on the bottom of the boat, and push on the pegs with the balls of my feet. Is this what most peg-users do? This requires flexible shoes and makes the angle l...

Installing a pump + canoe sawhorses
(well, Reinstalling a pump.) over the break I took on this project on my Prelude and post it here for others' reference. I found a photos and info from other installs here: http://www.cboats.net/cforum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=7963257&start=0" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; and from other ...

Re: the L'edge deck semi chop
make sure your design doesn't have hard right angles. I've seen big ole splits from the right-angle cutout down the nose of a boat after a hard hit. Sturdy and friendly rounded corners should prevent this.

Re: Lower Back Pain and Cross Forward Strokes?
I have a pinpoint pain along my t-grip shoulder blade that gets aggravated about every time I paddle hard. Massage or theracane-type loosening seems to really help, but I don't own one, rolling a tennis ball around against the wall makes me look silly, and I can't quite get anyone on board to massag...

Re: Mohawk Canoes new product: the Phein
I am very excited that Mohawk is leaping into the new wave of canoe design. It would be great to have a stable creeker with the rails I miss from my Viper 11. Also, you just feel good supporting Mohawk when so many of us grew into the sport driving their classic designs. For those of us who don't kn...

Re: Stuck in an offside carve
Two thoughts that have not been mentioned: 1) Just because you are paddling on your offside doesn't mean you have to lean to your offside. This may not be applicable/helpful in all situations, but a beginner I'm mentoring pointed out this limitation in their cross-stroke. There may be many circumsta...

I am in the preston County area of WV for the wknd, headed back toward Ashevlle sunday. We have climbing gear not boating gear, but I'd explore some new rivers if you can spot me a boat, etc.

Re: Ambitious tandem for a light team
The Blast probably would do everything you would want it to, and is shorter than I realized. But I wonder if there are still advantages in converting an OC1. The Esquif site advertises the Blast as a longer Nitro. There may some specific design elements that differentiate them and the Nitro could be...

Ambitious tandem for a light team
So I've done some research into bohemian tandem boats and solos as tandems mainly @ these links: http://cboats.net/cforum/viewtopic.php?t=7965247&highlight=light+tandem" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; http://cboats.net/cforum/viewtopic.php?t=7964234&highlight=light+tandem" onclick="wi...

Re: Creeking in an Ion (or anything small) vs. L'edge?
Re: Prelude I noticed some advantages of Prelude-creeking on a recent low water run of Big Creek. Big Creek is a continuous bouncy rock jumble of water pouring out of the smokies. At every paddle stroke, you are avoiding the rock directly in front of you or turning to join the flow of water. At such...
