That is great news! Keep all of us updated on when the bid is submitted. I am on the slalom committee and will be voting for the site... there hasn't been two bids submitted since 2005. If you can pass along to Nate and Jeff some prevously mentioned concerns about camping. Both Craig S. and I referr...

I was at the last one there in '99. It is a nice section for slalom and I imagine there have been some improvements since then. The park is nice as well... it would be great if we could camp in a portion of that park. My friend and I did not camp where Craig S. mentioned, but for several nights, sta...

Hi Pat, I would be there for sure but I am no longer welcome in your country. In the summer of 1977, I was hitch-hiking around the west for 3 months and when I tried to go to Jasper-Banff they would not let me cross because I was not carrying enough money. I then foolishly tried to hike over the bor...

I agree, this thread needs to end... but this is one last attempt to convince Eddie that he is missing a golden oppurtunity. $75 bucks? Come on, that's a screaming deal for what you'll get out of it. And for a first timer, it's not about winning or losing but the major skills that you will gain. I g...

I really hope you are going to the canoe slalom nationals this weekend. It is very close for you so PLEASE go! You will learn more from watching (and trying to emulate) the regulars than a whole season of drills and river running. And I'm not trying to piss you off here but even if you haven't run g...

So, it's late and I will keep this short for now. The Defiant does NOT require the bow driven attention, etc. of the more fish shaped designs like the Ignitor. Though I have not paddled Kaz's Rival, I have paddled plastic Rivals often enough to know how they perform. The Defiant is more interesting ...

I own a Defiant and have paddled the Ignitor. I have paddled my Defiant at 6 of the last 10 slalom nationals and have used it for some general cruising. I prefer using my two Ocoees for most days on the river. The Defiant is fast and more forgiving than the Ocoee but I do enjoy the edges (eddy turns...

The Prodigy is a pretty unexciting design. It's not very deep and doesn't have much rocker. It probably would feel similar to the Shaman. I agree with Phil, look at the Inferno or the Rumba. I have paddled both, though if I read your needs correctly, the Rumba would be an easier transistion. I own a...

Raven, I dare say you might "ramble" more than me... I couldn't quite follow you but I'll go back "an study on it some", like Karl Childers. Kaz, Does this remind you of someone else from a few years back? Hey all, I was just looking to keep this at the top of the page! Maybe someone will get inspir...

raven, you make some accurate points, namely the turnout is never what we would hope for. have you ever attended? i would be curious to know... it is a great time and huge skill builder. the rest of north america is missing out. you are correct, the spectators are mostly family and friends. frankly,...

Kaz, Even though I own one of your boats (and want several more) I am very partial to the Ocoee. I would be interested in your opinion of the boat. Have you paddled one much in the past and is the one in question, yours or are you just outfitting it for someone else? My one Ocoee is factory oufitted...

They are lightweight and have been very durable for me. I have had a set for 3 or more seasons (80+ times a year), they get rotated between 2 solo boats and one tandem, I don't take them out for the drive and still no patches. My one complaint is they don't have grommetts at the wide corners... so y...
