C1 Rolling and PFD advice

I have a reasonably reliable C1 roll, but lately have been having a good bit of trouble with my Remix 79. Yesterday in the pool I hit 2/10 and was really disgusted. But then I took off my PFD (Astral, non-rescue model) and hit 100% and felt very strong. The bulky front of the PFD seems to be the pro...

Lost Paddle at Grumpy's on the Ocoee

A friend, Bob, had the T-grip of his Werner carbon-fiber Bandit Canoe Paddle come off while doing the boof at Whiteface on the Ocoee, and he ended up losing the paddle. If found please contact (479)200-4103.

Boat stolen at Woodall on the Chattooga last Sunday

My son's girlfriend stashed her red Necky Chronic (with light blue metal thigh braces) in the woods at Woodall on the Chattooga last Sunday, July 1st. A guy with a shaved head and a big cross tattoo on his chest or shoulder was seen carrying it up to the parking lot in the afternoon. It's been repor...

Re: Stomper 90 or Remix 79?

I was suspicious of the "backender button" on my Remix 79 (aka Remax) too, but with no skill on my part it appears to do what it's advertised to do - i.e. kick the boat up to about 30-45 degrees and push it out of a hole. On numerous occasions I've found myself heading into holes that I had no busin...

Re: The Great[ly Ignominious] C1 - OC1 Debate...

I agree with the others: Get a boat, paddle, enjoy. Nothing wrong with celebrating open boating - I was at ALF for all of about ten minutes on Saturday morning (for reasons of marital bliss) - to pick up a viper C1 brought down from Canada (Thanks, Dave Humphrys!), and it seemed like a great group o...

Re: IR C1 Skirt

Yep - pretty much all the modifications others have described. Nine inch offset from the rear cockpit rim, a considerably longer tunnel, and some extra room at the hip area to avoid stress from hip braces.

IR C1 Skirt

Just want to say thanks to the guys at IR. Ordered an IR Lucky Charm Skirt modified for C1, to fit a Remix 79. I was really impressed with how helpful they were in making sure it would fit my boat, and how well the skirt is made. It's amazing to me how much better it fits/feels than the regular kaya...

Hip Grabbers

Hey Tom,
If you still need hip grabbers send me a PM. I have a set or can suggest an alternative (which is why I have a set).

Too light for EZG60

At your weight the EZG50 would be a better playboat. I weigh ~200 and the 60 would probably be about right if I actually knew how to do any playboat moves. Regardless, I really like the EZGs as C1s.

I'm in Clemson, if you're down this way and want to try out the 60.

Boats for sale: two light, one dark

Garage sale, but not my usual kind (involving anguish and debris): Two C1's 1) Redline conversion, good condition, homemade saddle, will throw in old, patched, but serviceable skirt. $150 firm 2) Gyramax, well used, repaired, water-tight and still fun to paddle. Old-style perception saddle. Sorry, n...

Not my boat, but it does make a nice river runner C-1. Sort of like a Redline, but with a little more volume and a little more edge.
