WTB beater slalom C1
Looking for an older slalom boat to try out. Mostly for attaining on my local run, (which tends to be boney much of the time, another reason to look for a more used boat). Not to many opportunities to run gates within a reasonable drive. I have no idea what boats in particular make sense, I'm probab...

Re: Would you ever...
Eight boats bought, one tried in advance, no regrets.
Of course, none of them were new. Used boat at a reasonable price, I figure if it doesn't work out I can always sell it. I'd probably be a lot pickier paying new boat prices

Anyone ever taken an OIA participation survey?
My wife is working on a research paper, some of which deals with statistics regarding whitewater participation. One of the commonly quoted surveys in the field is that of the Outdoor Industry Association. As she delved into the statistics, she became curious about the methodology of the survey, part...

Re: Tumblehome
I have nearly zero experience in OC, (all my canoes need skirts), but from a theoretical perspective, for the same below water shape, (with no boat lean), maximum beam and hull depth, increasing tumblehome should decrease secondary stability. Also, again for the same max hull depth, it seems like it...

Re: COMPOSITE CREATIONS BULLDOG CANOE FOR SALE
I haven't spent much time using the PM feature on here, perhaps I'm not using it correctly, but I didn't see your message.
I'm sending you a PM, to see if it goes through.

Re: COMPOSITE CREATIONS BULLDOG CANOE FOR SALE
Just out of curiosity, 'cause I really don't need another boat (although "need" can be a very flexible concept) About how much does it weigh?
Ah, I see from the website it's supposed to be ~ 44 lbs. Does that seem about right?

(also, oddly enough, in Lexington KY)

Cascade weldable?
The cockpit coaming on my Cascade cracked on Saturday. About a 15 cm (6 in) crack next to my right hip. I think this is probably where I press down to lever my ample avoirdupois out of the boat and it's given up the ghost, I suppose the other side will be following soon. I drilled a pair of stopper ...

First Aid Kit, what is in it?
I just finished a CPR certification and am adding a breathing shield to the pin kit/ throw rope/space blanket that always go in the boat, but I'm trying to figure out what goes into an appropriate first aid kit. Proper training is probably more useful than stuff and no knowledge, and I'm working on ...

How boat specific is technique
How boat specific is technique? I'm trying to sort out some paddling issues in my C1 and also, in a more general sense, I’m trying to understand how different C1 technique is from OC1, and how much C1 technique varies from boat to boat. I’m relatively new to both whitewater and C1, paddling a Cascad...

When were cascades and atoms last made
I was just wondering. Somebody asked me the other day how old my boat was. I had picked it up used and I realized I didn't have a clue as to when Dagger made these boats.

Epic HD helmet camera experience?
Has anyone had any experience with the Epic HD helmet camera and particularly it’s waterproof case? If so, what have they been? I received one as a gift and, looking at the case I’m a bit concerned about getting upside down in anything swirly. The case closure in particular doesn’t look all that rob...

From an historical perspective many sea kayaks were cboats. The current crop of commercial boats came out of the double bladed greenland tradition, but many Aleutian boats were paddle C1 or mixed C1 and double blade. http://www.arctickayaks.com/Plans/PlansBeringSeaRTW-1.htm http://www.traditionalkay...
