This video was posted about 1 1/2 yrs ago on this forum. I remember first seeing it here. I think Bruce Lessels does a fairly good job of explaining the basic motions. Doesn't explain the nuisances. His form looks great and is real smooth. Would like to see his paddle action more, but the reflexions...

Yukon, Installed a lap belt in the Taureau this weekend and tried it out for flatwater rolls. In summary, it isn't the cats meow solution I was hoping for, but it helps. At first, I nailed 3 rolls in a row and thought to myself the belt was the solution. But after that, it was back to the old strugg...

Congrats
Yukon, Congratulations on nailing the combat roll in the Taureau! It is no mean feat. I use to think that I was pretty skilled at rolling C1's and most open boats. I once went 2 yrs without missing a roll in my favorite boat and I had lots of opportunities to blow it in those 2 years. Then I bought ...

I was lucky enough to be in Tenn on Saturday and invited myself and joined the group (and the lost tribe). There had to be 20 of us C Boaters clogging up the eddies at times on the river. I thank Louie and the rest for being so welcoming. Southern hospitality at its best. By far, the video shows the...

Hey Louie,
I am that one. It was great meeting you guys and getting the opportunity to boat with you all. Now I have some faces to go with some of the names on this board. The group was definitely fun to boat with and was as safe as need be given the nature of the rapids on the Ocoee. My vacation is over and I...

Great Photos!
Trey, Just got back home from down south. Thanks for uploading all those photos. It was great re-living the Ocoee C Boat/Lost Tribe experience. Seeing again all those faces from a great day on the river. Maybe I will make it down there again next summer and have another chance to connect with you al...

Is there a meeting time at the Put-In?
My wife is taking a course at NOC that weekend and I will be in the vicinity of the Ocoee. Are Yankee C-1 er's invited to join? I could attempt to spray paint my blue boat to grey for the occasion. Is there an approximate meeting time at the put-in on Sat and Sun?

Thank you for asking what the C Boat community would like to see come out of the molds. My biggest desire. A C-1 creeker. Drakkar out of Poland made a great C-1 playboat (the Wheelboy) and then promised a creeker. There was a lot of interest and anticipation on this board, but Drakkar folded before ...

Trimmed the Tareau outfitting
Yukon, I bought a Tareau and had a moderately difficult time with river rolling it. Following tips on this board, I trimmed the bulkhead so that I would have a wider stance with my knees spread further apart. I also glued foam to the inside (as suggested here) to make a smaller knee hole. The idea b...

Tariffville section of the Farmington
At the end of May, the Tariffville section of the Farmington River will have reliable water. The Tariffville section plus the two sections of the Deerfield River mentioned in the last post are your most reliable options. The Deerfield River is very clean water and has reliable weekend releases on bo...

Redline is my main boat
For what it is worth, the Redline has been my main go-to boat for the last 9 years. I think it makes an excellent C1 conversion for general river running with moderate play characteristics. I weigh 190 lbs., so you will have to take that into your calculations, plus I never paddled the Score, so I c...

I should have added that I use both hip blocks and ankle supports, and actually feel that they are more important than the toe blocks. Like Ohioboater, I need the ankle supports for comfort. I wouldn't own a C1 without them. I put them in the same way I put in the toe blocks, by using 2 component ur...

I glue the toe blocks to the hull.
I am not sure how it is "suppose" to be done, but I have had a lot of success glueing the toe blocks down to the hull with a 2 component polyurethane adhesive. The only two 2 component polyurethane adhesives readily available are the 3M Scotch Weld Urethane adhesive (Part # 3532 B/A) or the adhesive...

Epoxy resin for Royalex
I have had really good and long lasting results using epoxy resin and kevlar on royalex. You can pick up 2 component epoxy resin at any hardware store. I find the 1 to 2 hour cure resins give the right amount of working time. Saturate the kevlar with the mixed resin. Squeeze out the excess. Apply it...

sbroam wrote [Always wanted to try one of those - it looked like my Whiplash, but with the right width!] You are right about the width. It definitely makes this kayak a good C1. My wife has a Whiplash, and the Redline does better rear squirts. The more bulbous front on the Redline helps shed water d...
