I want to paddle Friday. Who's up for it? "The Loop" is not in my guidebook, so I don't know where to go. Yeah, I know I'm setting myself up for this one - Where do I go for Friday paddling? What time do I need to be there?

I'll be there
Just tell me when & where to be. I've never been up there. I'm coming Thursday night or Friday morning. I'm bringing the Big EZ. I can bring my Cascade & Probe 11 if anyone wants me to. I need to be back in Carolina for Mother's day, so I'm not staying for Sunday. I do want to paddle Friday & Saturd...

Great idea
Hey Joey, If somone will let me know when & where to be for the armada I'll buy a shirt. I'm coming up Thursday night or Friday morning, so I'm up for paddling Friday. Where is everyone camping? I don't think I've ever seen a C-1 T-shirt, so it's kind of hard to go wrong. Look back to page 3, the po...

Thanks KNeal!
Hey KNeal, I now have another way to squirt. Thanks! I took the Big EZ out this afternoon & actually made it to the 1st bridge abutment! (flow is down to 30,000cfs, I think they closed one of the floodgates :o ) The 1st method that you described was new to me & it worked on the 1st attempt. :D It is...

Friday paddling
Hey Scott (& anyone else), I'm up for paddling Friday. I don't know my way around up there though. When & where do you want to meet?

Easy Mohawk mod.
I have a Mohawk Probe 11 with the factory installed Mohawk outfitting. I found my knee kept slipping out when I attempted to roll. The remedy was to glue in a little foam ~1-1.5" on the backrest to move me just that far forward. This locks me in a little better. My knees don't slip out & I don't mis...

Another idea
Scott, you bring up another idea. What about squashing the stern of my Cascade? How would that handle?

Thanks
Looks like my only choice is a Viper. I tried an Atom last winter. It's almost as fast as the Cascade, surfs better, but I could not make it squirt. My Big EZ surfs steep waves great, squirts at will to either side & I can sometimes get 2 ends, but it's the slowest thing I've ever paddled. Looks lik...

Count me in!
Count me in for my 1st armada! I'll drive up Thursday evening/Friday morning. I'm not staying for Sunday. I need to be back in Carolina for Mother's Day. Where do I need to be? What time do I need to be there & how do I find y'all (aside from just looking for a bunch of C-boats)? I'm bringing the Bi...

Which boat?
I want another boat. I'm thinking of something relatively stable to run big water & maybe replace my Cascade. I also want something that will stern squirt with a 180lbs. fat boy in it. What should I be looking for? Am I asking too much? The river is 25 feet too high to have good rapids now, but ther...

12.73' & rising
I think I'll pass. I've run it once at a little over 3.5'. I would like to get up there & run it with y'all when it comes down a bit. I'm thinking about doing the race, but need to run the river a couple of times before hand.

idea
Easy for me to suggest since I don't know how to do it. Here's my idea for reviews. Create a space on the "___boats" page next to each boat listed where folks could post their review. That way you see the specs & photos that are already up. When I'm interested in a particular boat I'm going directly...

Gyramax
I think you'll find that Adam is correct. It'll be tough to find an Atom in your $ range.
There is a Gyramax in Virginia for $150. Go to: http://members.cox.net/coastal-trader/
Look under "Canoes for Sale".

zero to hero
Just get a little boat & roll. It will do it weather you want to or not. I went from a Cascade to a Big EZ. Every time I rolled up it was to a bow stall. I started setting up with my paddle further back to STOP doing the bow stall.

Team etc. on OC
Has anyone used the Team etc. set-up on an open boat? The whitewater open canoe downriver nats are in NC this year & I'm going to enter if they give a T-shirt. I'm looking for an Old Town Penobscot to set up for the race.
