HUGH high water paddling on the James!

Joey joined me for a flood stage paddle on the James today (about 15.5 feet at the time) and had an AWESOME day of surfing the "Z" dam adjacent to Riverside Drive in Richmond. WOW! That is about all we did, but it was a REALLY great time! I'm pumped and wanting to do it again, so we are going out on...

Interesting!

There is some merit in that picture worth considering. She's wearing a skirt, her head is protected, and she's holding a paddle. Wait a second, is that "t-gripping dudette"? I'm really looking forward to the Spring Armada in May. Also, anybody interested in joining me at Cheat Fest for a Cheat...

There is a lot of interest in getting the group back to the NB Potomac in April AND May, what we need is someone who will step up and organize the trip and say "here is the weekend of the Armada, who can show up?" Whichever weekend is decided, there will be c-1er's there. Who is going to step up thi...

Add this to what Sean posted

From what I remember from rolling a c-1 vs an oc-1 is that in a c-1, you REALLY hip snap violently pulling the boat underneath you, and in an open boat, you are wrenching the boat back over using your WHOLE lower body. What Sean described was pretty much what I recall. When he is talking about archi...

Here is my $0.02 worth

As Sir Adam pointed it out, the size of the boat depends on boater preference. Many paddlers nowadays like the shorter boats for playing and to increase the challenge to running rivers. Bigger plastic c-1's (like the Dagger Cascade) have been likened to paddling a pig, that is it is a slow boat to g...

Volunteers needed for Armada dates in the Spring and Summer

We can definitely have a GREAT Spring of Armada trips as long as volunteers can choose to be the organizer for a particular trip. It has been suggested that we get to the Ocoee, NB Potomac, and other locations. I found the 2003 Ocoee release schedule and can make a trip the weekend of March 29-30. C...
