Re: Options for younger developing Open Boaters

I think Options are great boats for younger boaters .... although a little bit heavy! :O)

Seriously, I can't believe no one has mentioned this yet, but try an Ion! Once the kid learns to paddle it in a straight line he will ride up and over anything!

I'm talking about still photos...I see the video links on here.

Re. Can anyone post their photos from ALF or links to albums on here? I am no longer on Facebook but I would sure like to see the work of the many fine photographers who were out there this year.

Re: Octane 85

Zoom's comment is freaking hilarious:

"I did not attempt a roll, because there was no turning this boat over."

Saw one at ALF and can't wait to try whatever Jeremy "cooks up" next.

Re: Question for Option owners

Options don't pin :D Seriously, it is just nylon webbing and the forces generated by boat full of water pinned in the current and your Z-drag might break the grab loop. If it is a very serious pin clipping a biner to the thwart on the underwater side and running the rope up and around the hull shoul...

Re: Curved blade versus flat blade

I actually think there may be advantages rolling and bracing with a curved blade as the curve makes the blade more perpendicular to the surface of the water. This is more true with open boats than C1's because the seating position is generally higher and you can't move your hands as low. The whole ...

I would love to try one of yours sometime side by side with mine. Maybe the next time you paddle in the Asheville area I could meet you.

Thanks!

Re: 2013 Option thoughts

I am still unclear if it makes any difference for dryness or rolling. My 2012 Option is extremely dry and rolls as easily as any boat I have ever had. I think the higher ends are more of a cosmetic touch than anything else but if someone else knows differently, please let me know. Also, wouldn't add...

Re: Curved blade versus flat blade

It is all personal preference, like so many choices in paddling. So whatever you like best!
