Re: WTB canoe paddle
I have a mitchell premier flat blade - 58" with rope edges and metal tip - I've had it for years, but it has rarely been used. It is basically new - I'd let it go for $70.00 + shipping Hi, this is exactly what I am looking for (maybe an inch or two shorter, but I can live with that). I sent you a P...

WTB canoe paddle
I need a spare, 58 or 60 inch, Aquabound Edge or something similar would be great. Flat (non-curved) blade preferred. I cannot figure out how to do a filter search on here looking for just paddles, but if you have some you would like to unload please let me know. I have a nice wooden paddle but need...

Re: Light L'edge v/s L'edge (responsiveness)
You can save a lot of money going to gym and pumping iron by getting a regular L'Edge and learning to push it around. No, this is not a good boat for the paddler under 150 pounds. But I don't buy this stuff about lighter being more durable or flexible. Whatever Esquif did to fix the problem with the...

Re: Royalex is dead?
You all know a lot more about this than I do. That being said, I don't think Twintex is the answer. We canoeists like to be able to make our own repairs. Better to go with a composite boat. I don't think this will be the end of long boats either. It is only a matter of time before Esquif or another ...

Re: Question of Length
There are certain rivers where I still want the 12-foot Outrage, the Cheoah being top of the list. Even running that at higher than normal flows I have had no real need for an electric pump because the Outrage is so fast and dry. It also is really reassuring on bigger drops, and I can whip that big ...

Re: Question of Length
The best selling canoes in the last five years from all the ww-canoe manufacturers have been under 9 feet long and that in my opinion is because they are more fun to paddle and frankly easier to paddle. Hope this helps. Craig I may be mistaken, but is the L'Edge not 9 feet plus 2 inches long...

Re: Saddle Removal
I have used a hacksaw blade flat on the bottom of the boat with gloves to protect my thumbs and the whole operation took about two minutes, so that should be all you need. A serrated bread knife also works but better to use one without a handle, just the blade, to keep the cut flush with the bottom.

Re: L'Edge re-outfitting question
Or maybe a piece of PVC tubing with a *cap* that could be screwed into - <$.50 and locally available... or a salvaged bit from something around the house... Legos? Thanks for the idea...this is what I did with a slight modification. I also followed the boat designer's advice in the first response t...

Re: L'Edge re-outfitting question
Great information. Thanks everyone! Re. "Go to a home depot and buy a boring bit a little smaller than the dowel you plan to use." I prefer to use an exciting bit :O) Seriously, another thing that works really well for drilling round holes in minicell is an old broken piece of aluminum shaft from a ...

Re: L'Edge re-outfitting question
Thanks for all the good advice so far. Can you tell me more about how to put the small diameter plastic dowel through the saddle to secure it to the thwart? Right now I believe there are a couple of pieces of dowel fastened to the thwart on each side of the saddle to keep it from moving side to side...

L'Edge re-outfitting question
I noticed that the saddle in my L'Edge, which I bought secondhand, is not glued in. It seems to be just wedged under the thwarts and it has some side-to-side movement I would like to eliminate. I know PE can be hard to get glue to stick to. My plan is to pull out the thwarts and saddle, rough up the...

Re: L'Edge or OCtane1 ?
Hi Richard, I think you would really like the L'Edge. You might as well go ahead and get the light one. I wonder how long they will be making the big old heavy dogs like mine, given all the bad mouthing people are giving that boat (after it was THE BOAT a couple of years ago)! I love it though it ta...

The Most Insanely Easy To Roll Canoe Ever Created
Yesterday evening I took my new (to me) L'Edge out in the pond to do some roll practice. I have owned a number of boats that roll really easily (such as my Savage Superfly and an old Phantom OC1-Kanubi gave me) but I have never experienced anything as easy to roll as this 2011 L'Edge. Paddle not all...

Re: any of you have a whitesell whirlwind?
A friend of mine designed the Whirlwind for Whitesell. I am curious, what other boats has Dave Sherrill designed over the years? Whirlwind had a limited appeal after it hit the paddling market because it's smaller dimensions made for a wetter ride than Nolan's other boats (Piranha, Descender). Pers...
