West VA Rafting

OK- I know this is not C boat related, but I am a C- boater so cut me some slack. I have been asked to arrange a raft trip on the lower New River for my son and some of his buddies and their Dads. An online search shows a multitude of raft companies. I have two questions: 1) Any recomendations for o...

I will be there is spirit- having made most of the Armada's on the East Coast, I know what a great time of paddling and fellowship I will be missing. I will try to get a few hours on the James on Friday afternoon before we head to the beach. I hope you have great water levels, clear skies, cool evei...

Mohawk Scamp? The bow and stern look a bit narrow, but that would be my guess ( and also my first "small" boat years ago

God, grant me the serenity to accept that I can't have all the boats, river trips, etc. that I want, the courage to paddle the rivers, boats that I can and the wisdom to remain a C boater. Scott- what's that paddle the boy is holding in the photo- I guess he is paddling sweep! Looks like a stand up ...

I have been keeping an eye out for a tandem open boat- I'd like to be able to take my 12 you son out. I don't recall seeing a howler on the river. What can you tell me about the boat in terms of weight capacity, handling characteristics, etc... ? Thanks.

Those ten years seemed to sort of fly by- that was a great event and I look forward to Concordia 09. If there are things I can do to help out, I will be more than happy to pitch in for the event.

I got mine a few years back, and as mentioned by someone earlier, Mitchell put my name & contact info high up on the shaft near the t-grip. A very nice feature- only problem- they made a mistake on the phone number! I love the paddle and this is one I'd sure hate to lose. I went out this past weeken...

TOG

I think that it certainly would be a mistake to assign an age for TOG status- I agree with Mike W.- it is a state of mind. That being said, I do have some notion that is has more to do with paddling history and experiences than with age. For example, just being OLD in age should not qualify for TOG ...

Friday night at the campground- clear sky with stars shining like diamonds- saturday morning- overcast, rain coming. Just as we pulled out of the campsite, the rain started. By the time we got to Westernport for breakfast, it was really pouring. Scott B. brought out his weather radio and we heard wa...

NB Armada

I may have missed it in other posts, but I'd appreciate an update on the NB Armada plans- I know that the NB is set for Saturday the 31st- what about Friday? I hear that there is a plan to do the C-squirt on the Cheat Narrows, bu also saw something about the lower yough. For those with a plan, how a...

I can only offer a one-sided opinion on the Atom- it is the only C-boat I own, following a Cascade and Gyromax ( I know, a very limited sample- all plastic- all big). I paddled open boats for many years and found no problem going to the Atom. That being said, my style of boating is mostly down river...

I will make all effort to be there this year- Due to starting up a new job I had to miss last year ( the first time to miss out on an East Coast event since I went to the inaugural Concordia), and I really regretted that. I got a voice mail from Gunst today that indicates he wants to carpool. Any in...

Thanks for all of the suggestions- I think I will try the neoprene cement and after that sets up, apply a coating of aquaseal for possible extra protection from wear. Yes Kneal, I have actually been doing a little bit of boating, on the very little bit of local water in the James. I'd like to say th...
