... a range of body types, but the average canoe design seems to be for realtively light people! It's not like 220 is huge, but boats like the Zoom, Solito, Viper 11, etc. perform best for lighter folks. Sure, there are heavy guys who paddle Preludes etc., but I'd suggest they tend to be high-end ...

Blue Hole

Is there a reason this boat is not in Cboat's gallery of boats? Not many out there, I suppose. Is Evergreen still in existence, the Solito looks pretty interesting as well... Okay, this all started when I saw a Blue Hole Sequel for sale. Looks to be in excellent condition. I've never seen ...

... for its size, great secondary, fits in kayak-sized eddies, wonderful for surfing waves, decent for punching holes. I have an Ocoee, a Phantom, a Solito and an Outrage in the garage, but the Prelude is the boat I always take, high or low water level. Great to be free of Royalex. Cons: No primary ...

The boat is bomber and I feel bomber in it. The boat excels in so many things, and one thing in particular--when ...

Pat: That's interesting what you say about Heather and the Solito and Zoom. I'll have to talk to her about it. I don't have a lot of Zoom experience. I've paddled it for short stretches and that's all. My take on the Zoom is that it's fun for river running ...

Some might argue on the "more stable", maybe just a different kind of stability? When Heather's gone from her new Zoom back into a Solito, it hasn't sounded like she missed much of the Solito's design. (You can discuss when she picks up the Caption!) With what little experience I've had ...

Evergreen Solito Revisited

A year ago I sold my Evergreen Solito and have been paddling 98% of the time my Esquif Prelude. This weekend, I borrowed back the Solito for a day just to see what it was like again. The Solito is about 1.5 feet longer than the Prelude and ...

The Maxim is a long story. Solito, no thank you! A friend of mine has one, she destroyed it in weekend on grade 3! No bad lines, no big impacts split it to the core in three places. Importer not interested, Evergreen not interested. Sorry ...

Hi Pat,

I paddled the Solito around the lake last week. I'm about 215 at my 'cottage' weight. I don't think I was too heavy for it, but I found it pretty edgy. I'm more comfortable in an Ocoee. I'm also hoping the L'edge fits me in the search for a short boat.

Interesting. I'm pushing 220, so remain skeptical about how I'd find a L'Edge for stability, speed and dryness, but your review gives me some. Though I' really hoping that Craig & Esquif will do the 10-4 version!

At 200lbs, what did you think of the Solito?
