Prelude

I think we have a buyer......finally conferred with boaters smarter than us about what price to go with...$500 with airbags.

If it doesn't sell, I will post again. I think he needs to sell a boat to buy this one :-)

No hip snap. You are trying to do it all with the paddle. Its kind of hard to tell what you are doing with the paddle. It looks like you are doing a low brace roll and leaning forward on the bow at the end of the roll. Thats good. A lot of kayakers have trouble with that. I also used to be a kayaker....

I moved the outfitting back 3 inches in my zoom. It turns a lot better now, but has a slight loss in speed. I may have moved it to far back, I think about an inch forward of where it presently is would be good. measurements. 60 1/2 inches from center of bow to outside of gunwale. the line crossing t...

http://i79.photobucket.com/albums/j156/nshue/ZoomStrapsRevised.jpg The cord outfitting looks lots better, huh? Thanks for all the help. Steve is happy with this and I am too :-) And, this is how you post a picture: I upload a picture to Photobucket.com....when the picture shows up, put your cursor ...

No, I've heard good and bad about having it on you...I do carry one in my boat, though. Steve is, as we speak, redoing the straps...all the posts gave him another idea, too. He has inserted some slightly flexible flat rubber into the straps for stiffness, and is retying cord to attach from gunnel ab...

The thwart in a Zoom is farther toward the bow, so it's too far to attach cords. :(

Sue
ps We'll see if we can get thicker straps to work...maybe stiffen the present straps somehow. I do not feel comfortable with all the cords either.

OUTFITTING QUESTION (posted picture this time)

Does this look safe enough?

The reason for this outfitting is to be able to quickly get into straps, while in a very small or dynamic eddy in Class IV water.

I used tent shockcord, does not break easily.

Thanks. this has all been very helpful. With west system having a new epoxy, and getting high recommendations for 3m scotchweld epoxy. I’ll have to try one of them. Both sound more likely than anything else I’ve tried.

Is it a sheet of plastic that he is talking about I will forward him Phil's suggestion. then...that's it for me...gotta go to run errands.... :D But, hopefully st...
