adhesive for nylon
I have an old backpack rain cover that I have cut to use as a cockpit cover. I put it over the cockpit, stretched bungee cord around and now need to either sew (I'd like to avoid this) or somehow glue the nylon around the bungee. Before I spend money on a can of aerosol adhesive, I thought I'd check...

Re: Cataract surgery -- any TOG's have implants??
Interestingly enough, I wasn't TOG when I had a lens implant. I developed a cataract as a result of an eye injury (right eye) and in 1991 I had a lens implant. I have had no problems at all with the procedure or the lens. I would imagine that the technology and the procedure has only improved since ...

Re: C-Boaters with nose plugs?
Nose Plugs?! We don't need no stinkin nose plugs! Big Al- thanks for sharing the photo of the dudes nasal hardware. The added weight might help him to keep his head under and actually assist with his roll. On the other hand, it would be messy if he snagged a rock with thoase rings! Could make rescue...

The event was a boatercross challenge with the course being laid out by Jon Lugbil. Racers included Eric Jackson...

Re: Looking for info on some older river guide books
Those are great books- good information and very funny. While boats and paddlers have advanced a great deal since then the humor holds true today. I still have an old Neely T-shirt- it shows an open boat with two paddlers going down river with cows glaring at them from both sides of the river- title...

floatation
It's been a long time since I outfitted an open boat. I need float bags for an Ovation. What manufacturer do you recommend? I am guessing I need 54" or 60" bags. Thanks for your responses.

I read about this earlier today in Discovery magazine. They made a sample of it out of Girl Scout Cookies (shortbread) with the explanation that everything is carbon, and at high temperatures they can create graphene- however, it is not feasible to use the cookies for this application. Idid wonder i...

It is called capitalism- one person has a product another wants. If both people agree to a fair price, the deal is struck. If Blackhawk is willing to invest his capital on a risk that he can sell the boats for more than he paid, more power to him. I understand that River Karma might run counter to t...

boat repair
I have no experience in glass boat repair, so bear with me. I would like opinions on what material to use to fill small scrapes in the bottom of the boat- these are mostly deep scratches through the gel coat, but not through to the fiber (but close). I've researched this some and found some product ...

TOG represents!
Check out the photo's of the Richmond RiverRock at www.coastals.org/forum (Trip reports) to see our own Mike W. going off the Redbull Ramp in his C-1- His TOG sticker is visible in one of the shots- way to go Mike- I was paddling this morning hoping to see the finals, but it was shut down. Kneal is ...

saddle
I had a chance to buy a used solo boat ( Ovation- I know, I have read the knocks about it on the forum),but this boat is essentially in new condition and I couldn't pass up on the deal. It comes outfitted with a perception saddle (hard plastic molded black thing). I have always used foam saddles- I ...

It is imperative that we all recognize that there is inherent risk to WW boating, and that each of us has the personal responsibility to decide where and what we boat. There are a multitude of reasons we boat and all are valid. I do worry that there is a certain element of fundamentalism going on ( ...
