Re: canoe blue book?
One thing about aluminum canoes is that UV does not degrade them afaik.. If is in good shape or could be as good as new. The most I ever paid for a used boat was $500 usd for a millbrook in showroom condition. All the rest were under $350 even if in good shape

Re: Blink impressions
I cut a elongated D shaped piece of 1/2" thick ash. I actually flared it out a bit like the greek letter omega. Then bolted that under the gunnel, flat side against the hull. I used 2 small screws that I countersunk, with stop nuts for each "D" Then I bolted the thwarts to the "D" bracket with a lar...

Re: Blink
@ northwoods, #1 I don't to want to start any controversy. 2, I have paddled a Kaz boat for over 15 yrs so I know how tough they are (VERY) and I just got another, a blue Sacho a fraternal twin to the blink 3, I don't want anyone to have expectations of it being indestructible, kevlar and all, espec...

Re: Blink
I saw it in person the other day, but could not paddle it. No outfitting yet and it had wet resin from some tie down loops. It is very light around 20 lb I'll bet around 30 lb outfitted with a bulkhead and bags. It has all the features of a quick and nimble boat. I was impressed by how much volume i...

Re: Quick question on hanging storage for composite boat
I have hung my Hooter for years right side up from the painters on a pair of pulleys with no issues. Just make sure it is empty and check it once in a while for varmints

Re: Pumps
A pump helps only for convenience. In a very small canoe with no space to use a bailer the only choice is to stop and dump. Or outfit the canoe so that when full it can still be maneuvered reasonably. I think that with Insolence's scenario a pump would not be fast enough to make the needed differenc...

Re: Help Choosing my First WW Solo Canoe
In New England you can try neriverrunners a yahoo group or NPMB to meet up with some paddlers. AMC and PPCS in Maine have a number of active open boaters. There are quite a few of us left, we haven't all gone the way of the unicorn yet. A short (10ft or under) and relatively lightweight boat will be...

Re: Retirement Boat. Suggestions?
Kaz boat for sure, just get the right model for the type of paddling he will be doing . They are tough boats. A heavy boat will just sit there
