C1 Remix conversion

I converted a LiquidLogic Remix 69 kayak to a C1 these last few weeks. Most of the info that I used came from various cboats.net posts and ...

Re: C1 Remix conversion: Seat position

Thanks all for your responses. I can make the seat with about 3 inches of trim adjustment possible. At least I was in the ball park.

Re: C1 Remix conversion: Seat position

I don't know about the remix, but in my boats 1 inch does make a difference that I can notice. Is it worth playing with? Not if it's a hassle to play with it, and you like how the boat handles as is.

Re: C1 Remix conversion: Seat position

In my conversions I've never ended up significantly forward of the kayak seating position - mainly because my thick legs don't fit very far forward in a tapering, keyhole cockpit. It makes buying skirts easier. I've rarely, if ever, felt like I needed to be any further forward than my thighs allow.

Re: C1 Remix conversion: Seat position

Interesting numbers...

Doing some back-of-the-envelope calculations, shifting the lower leg mass from in front of the knee to pointing back moves the CG only 3-4". I'm making a bunch of weight guesses though.

Re: C1 Remix conversion: Seat position

Remix 79. 6 inches from seat back (it curves, this is to where it's flat, higher up the offset is less) - 6" to inside of cockpit rim. 230#.

Re: C1 Remix conversion: Seat position

On a 79 my seat is just under 8 inches, from the back cockpit rim. I have played with it a bit. To far forward, it feels a little bit more likely to get stuck in power turns. To far back it seems to catch the stern a little bit more. But it seems like there is a really wide range of where you can ha...

Re: C1 Remix conversion: Seat position

I don't have an answer for you but have a suggestion that has worked pretty well for me. On all the three of the conversions I've done myself I have put a little bit of Velcro down and straped the saddle down as well to keep the seat adjustable. The strap holds it down and the Velcro keeps it from s...

... and Finkenmeister are the Everest, Burn, Big Gun, Blunt, Stomper and now a Karma. I hated the Stomper 90. It sounded like a great mix gbetween the Remix and the Jefe. It wasn't Slow, didn't carve at all, didn't hold a line to save it's life, got pushed around a lot and wanted to stern ender in ...

Re: Go to boat?

Whitewater :
Oc-1 - Spanish Fly
c-1 - Remix 79

Flat water -
Might there be a rock? Interlude
No rocks? Explorer or patriot

But in the spirit of your question, I'll say - Spanish Fly :-)

Re: C-1 Creek Boats, time for a new one, what to get?

I've only paddled a few modern creek boats so my advice is limited but I replaced my Remix with a Bliss Stick Mystic and have been very happy. Good primary and secondary stability, good edge without being too grabby and just seems to be shaped the right way to make ...

Re: C1 conversion: straps v. bulkhead

Thanks for all the interesting information. Sbroam, I am interested in what sort of plastic/thickness you used for creating the baseplate in your remix conversion?

Re: C1 conversion: straps v. bulkhead

Pix of my remix conversion can be found at the link below. I used snow board bindings and straps. The remix is an awesome boat.
