Re: Pump electronics and L'Edge welding questions

Thanks to those of you who responded to the pump question. I am installing dual pumps with smooth clear outlet hoses and will see if that helps. I did not hear any thoughts on whether a small gap under the saddle could promote cracking so I put some foam shims under the thwarts to close the gap some...

Pump electronics and L'Edge welding questions

I still cannot get my Tsunami to run fast enough, having checked all wiring, polarity, etc., and with a new battery. The wiring from the switch to the pump my be slightly larger gauge than the pump wires. Could that be the problem? Any other ideas? Using a standard 4.5 amp lead acid battery buy my f...

Re: L'Edge Cracking.

Good gosh folks on here like to talk! The short answer is all L'Edges have cracking issues, the 2010s were the worst and they have been getting better since then. If you want a boat that is really hard to crack, GET A BLACKFLY! I personally like the L'Edge design better than the Option but I am weld...

Rare Whitesell Whirlwind in mint condition

Hi I am not sure I want to part with this boat but am putting this up in case anyone is interested. The Whirlwind is a 12-foot whitewater canoe designed by David Sherrill and produced by Nolan Whitesell before he closed up shop. I have been told the Mad River Outrage was "inspired" closely by this b...

How do I search posts I have posted?

Awhile back I posted a question, how much would you pay for a 12-foot whitewater canoe in good shape, but I cannot find it by going back through the forum and I do not see how to search all the things I have posted. Can anyone help?

WTB triple position foam saddle

I had one and sold it years ago, now I need another.

I have two rotomolded saddles I could trade, a Perception and a Bob Foote, for one … but no takers so far on that offer so I would be willing to buy your big hunk-o-foam if you have one for sale.

Re: Will trade TWO saddles: 1 Perception, 1 Bob Foote, 4 tri

No response so I am re-posting. I have two saddles I would be happy to trade for one triple-position mini cell foam saddle. I would also be interested in buying a triple position foam saddle. The two saddles I have to trade are: 1. A Perception saddle out of Whitesell in good condition. Built-in foo...

Re: Question re. Royalex deterioration over many years

I just picked up a '98 Ovation and drilled the hull for airbag lacing. The Royalex didn't seem any different where I was drilling than it does on newer hulls I've drilled. Wait until you hit rocks….with the newer hulls, I mean. Royalex has not been the same since Confluence Kayak Corp took over Mad...

How much is a Whitesell Piranha in excellent shape worth?

I'm buying it from a friend and there is not a soft spot anywhere on the hull. One repair under the front of the saddle that is bomber, no airbags, Perception saddle in great shape. I realize that very few people paddle such a long boat any more, but figured this one will make a super tandem to take...

Re: Question re. Royalex deterioration over many years

Some people do seem to have unrealistic expectations on the value of their boats! Are you able to look before you buy? You got that right, JimW. Yes, I will definitely look at it and get the exact age before I make an offer. I wonder if it is possible to tell by flexion the hull how brittle or not ...

Re: Question re. Royalex deterioration over many years

Thank you to those who have taken the time to respond to this post. Based on Dixieboater's response I am now thinking this boat is over 20 years old, since it is a Whitesell I am considering. I also should note that if I buy this boat I am planning on using it on Class III and IV water, maybe even I...

Question re. Royalex deterioration over many years

I am considering buying a boat that is probably 18 to 20 years old and has been rarely paddled and stored indoors. The owner wants a high price for it, and I am concerned that even though the boat looks like new, the Royalex may have deteriorated over all that time. Thoughts?
