I suggest contacting Esquif as an FYI and in the off chance that the manufacturer thinks that the crack was due to a defect. Send them the boat serial number. They may be willing to work with you. A lot of people also owe me beer for ferrying them around the river in the OCtane 92 to get their boat/gear after swimming out of their own boats. The tandem makes a great "rescue" vessel.

Did you ask Esquif already if they have a trailer and could bring it down for you? I know that they had a trailer of boats last year.

If its not smooth enough using just sandpaper, why not just epoxy over the foam, sand that smooth and paint over that.
