pedestal glueing question
This is a boring question, but just wondering if anyone has removed a minicell foam pedestal then re-glued the pedestal to royalex with Stabond glue without cleaning off the foam that has stuck to the bottom from the original glue job? Did that work OK? It seems like the hull should be cleaned of al...

Re: Need a new PFD
I like my Stohlquist Rocker vest. I roll my OC1 OK with it, haven't noticed any issues. Don't know about C1 rolling.

Re: Blackfly Canoe demos out west - where should we go?
If you're interested in lining up something on the South Fork of American, near Sacramento, CA, let me know. I could send out some emails to clubs, canoeists I boat with. I would be interested in trying out a boat. Best run would be Coloma to Greenwood, pretty easy so you'll get more potential parti...

Re: Trinity river April 24?
A number of canoeists usually boat at Trinity River- Pigeon Point on Labor Day. Kind of a long ways off but I'm posting it as something to plan for possibly, get some open canoeists together.

Re: Question for Blackfly Option Owners
Maybe it depends on what kind of rivers you run. Creeky, low-water rivers, like you might find in the East, for example the Lower Yough, pick the Option. Bigger rivers with a lot of water, choose the Octane 91. I am rather large for a Viper 12 at 235 pounds, paddled the Lower Yough no problem, no ba...

Re: Blackfly Canoe demos out west - where should we go?
I live in Sacramento, and I would be very interested in paddling an Octane 91 during a weekend. I would say that the bulk of California whitewater canoeists live in or near the main Northern California population centers of Sacramento and San Francisco, and the main river for them is the South Fork ...

rolling the CU-Fly
Has anyone managed to develop a reasonably reliable combat roll of a CU-Fly? How about rolling it all? Is there a trick to it? I can roll a Viper 12 no problems but I took my CU-Fly to the pool, and couldn't do it. The good news is the boat is pretty stable. Thanks.

Re: Octane 91 for first OC?
Perhaps someone might comment on whether the Octane is easy to roll or not. With a really wide, flat hull, I am guessing not. Thanks.

Re: Disposing of a trashed c-boat.
I would post it as a free boat on a club website. Someone will come and get it, and you don't have to do anything other than post on a web site. I did that once for a cracked Mohawk Viper 12 when I got a new boat, and I got a lot of responses. People were actually fighting for the boat, begging me n...

Thanks for all of the interesting opinions. Here is a link below to the schedule of dam release flows for the So. Fork of American that the original poster might find more useful than my other emails. You have to copy and paste it into a browser: http://www.dreamflows.com/Pages/ChiliBarSchedule.php"...

Re: Sacramento region
I'm just calling it like I see it. Some call it attitude, but I would call it knowledge-based awareness based on paddling with several clubs back east and in Colorado. I don't see how anyone can objectively say the paddling club situation is anyone near as organized, or user friendly as back east. I...

Re: Sacramento region
My experience is, if you want to be the "unwanted stepchild", be sure and bring your canoe to Sacramento. Otherwise, bring a kayak. I have lived mostly in the Sacramento area since 2000, and I would say that it is a terrible place to be a canoeist, in terms of the unfriendliness of kayakers, the lac...
