?

Yes, there is a design flaw. The survey has questions such as "If you had to assign one primary cause for a majority of your whitewater injuries and/or accidents, which of the below would be the best fit? *" Since I have never had a "significant" injury I cannot answer, but I also cannot choose to n...

Stay healthy

Sometimes our perception of the event is influenced by our physical responses. If you became short of breath on the roll, or your heart rate went up, that may initiate a perception of distress or fear. Then your head takes over and in addition to the physical response it cascades into an emotional r...

Spark?

I don't have a great reason for why I chose a Spark. I have never been in an Ignitor- at just over 6' and 185 - 195 pounds I have never found someone else's Ignitor outfitted so that I could fit in for trying it out. The Spark appealed to me because of the blend of performance, weight and plastic (t...

The solution is to buy several boats!

As the owner of several boats I have concluded... that they are all great! My recommendation is that if you are only going to get one you should go ahead and get it, and paddle it a LOT. Once you really learn how a boat handles you can get a lot out of any of the designs you described. I was the one...

Prowler!!!

I have a Millbrook Prowler and it is GREAT for running tandem with my kids and for solo paddling. I also have a plastic Howler for the same, but when the combined weight gets around 350 pounds it feels twitchy. The Prowler carries that weight fine, so it allows for your kids growth. GREAT boat for w...

Stability?

Low stability compared to what? My Spark is pretty stable, and I have gotten away with some funky moves in it (even with me being more than 190 pounds). The boat is quick to move from side-to-side, but it is consistent in that response, and stable when over on those sides. It is MUCH more stable whe...

Beaver RIVER

The title to the thread had me excited- I thought there might be some canoes joining me on NY's Beaver River (http://www.americanwhitewater.org/conte ... l/id/2612/).

I cannot make it tomorrow, but hope to be up there Sept. 26-27. I hope to see some canoers there.

If you run a race, they will come

First off- we should all recognize that each and every one of these racers are elite paddlers! I mean, these ARE the NATIONAL / NORTH AMERICAN CHAMPIONSHIPS. On top of that- the competition is severe. That is why you see the racers busy carb-loading and re-hydrating each afternoon. To the less-infor...

Wausau Rocks

The race was GREAT! Even better was the Wisconsin hospitality! This was my second time at Wausau and it continues to impress me. Pete Steffes, Ruth Jaeger, Brian Heikenen and Julie Walraven were wonderful hosts. Dewey Ewers gave us a challenging course- it kicked my butt during practice runs, but I ...

Mitchell!

I love my Mitchell Premier! It is light and sturdy. I did beat it up once and they did beautiful repairs/restoration at a good price.

I bought it from Kaz. Since he is not promoting his business, I will. Free shipping from Millbrook Boats- http://www.millbrookboats.com/.
