I like Picasa

http://picasaweb.google.com

Very easy to use and huge capacity

Tried Flickr for a while, it just didn't flow as smoothly. Also had much smaller capacity, I think 100MB had it maxed out vs the 5GB from Google.

I'm of the who really cares the color school. If I have a choice, I'll take whatever color others aren't paddling. Makes it easier to find my boat in a crowd. I've had boats custom built in unique colors, it wasn't the color as such that I cared about, just being a little different. My Gaia Everlast...

Breathable Thoughts: I generally paddle in snowmelt, but with 80 degree air temperatures. If you stay in your boat, sure there's not a lot of exposed area and you can keep the suit cool with river water. If your style of paddling includes scouting, portages, or various stops where you'll be out of t...

Is it breathable? Tropos is fairly new, a suit that old is either Gore-Tex or coated nylon. In the 90's, Kokotat made lots of drysuits from coated nylon. They'll have a similar cut to the current Tropos, but they're not the same thing. They are not breathable! A coated nylon drysuit with ankle gaske...

Just a little info on the Sawyer Loon: Was designed for a trip paddling around South America. Also used on a trip paddling UP the Grand Canyon. Lots of history in that design. I have one with the stock 4-way seat, and another retrofitted with a We-no-nah sliding pedestal. Not really a kneeling boat,...

Boat's aren't an investment, they're toys. If your toy falls apart accidentally/ unintentionally, it's usually covered under warranty. Manufacturers/ shops will work with you on that. If you run over your toy with a lawnmower, that's not the toy manufacturers fault. If you don't think the toy is wor...

Adjustable Thigh Hole in Bulkhead Saddle

Has anyone tried bonding in something like a blood pressure cuff or similar to the underside of the thigh cutout in a bulkhead saddle? I'm thinking it would allow the saddle to be adjusted a little, deflated for drysuit with layers, inflated for shorts/ warm water/ smaller paddlers. A blood pressure...

I use figure eight loops, but to answer the question there's some trial and error. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Figure-eight_loop The very first knot is easy, just tie it right next to the side of the boat. I then measure across and decide where I want my next knots to be. I'll make 4, two on the si...

Let me guess. Esquif? Possible, but they don't use D-rings. I know Bell does, and I think Mohawk does. No matter, a witch hunt of the manufacturer isn't needed at this phase. I'd get the boat back to the dealer/ whoever sold it ASAP. I'd be very concerned about the door #2 probability that ezwater ...

Show's a skeleton of what it's been in years past. Very few paddlesports manufacturers will be there. We've all told OR that it's the wrong time of year, needs to be September, but the clothing manufacturers keep bumping it forward to boost their lead times. I'll be there for a few hours, basically ...

Quick comment on boat life: If you don't like Royalex, don't buy it. If you found something you like better, buy that. I have one ex-customer who beats the snot out of his boats, and complains about boat life. I've clearly told him I don't know of any boats or materials that will hold up to his expe...

Scratches or gouges? Big difference! A scratch is like the scratch on paint. A gouge is where the rock leaves a minor crease in the ABS substrate. Scratches happen. The outer layer of the boat is vinyl. It's not some diamond hard substance. Good news on scratches is 1) they're easy to ignore, and 2)...

Lead Acid batteries rely on a chemical conversion to deliver energy. While in theory a 5 Ah capacity would allow the battery to drain 8 amps for 37 minutes, it ignores the conversion rate. Sounds like the 5Ah battery can't generate the needed 8 amp power demands. Either the plates aren't thin enough...
