Re: Young Adam Clawson and others in '85 slalom Nationals.

Adam was surprising a lot of people with his "tigermax C1" - An ultra cut down ultramax. At age 10 he was capable of things most of us only dream of...

John Sweet looks good on that run - he spent a bunch of time getting recirculated in the top hole a few days earlier - not a happy camper...

Re: Frankie Hubbard?

Frankie was one of a kind - It was a special day when he had a new design on the water testing it out.

It used to drive me nuts when I was racing, that all of the courses were set up to favor the lefties  - Especially when Jon and Davey were in the race... But seriously - I haven't been able to put a finger on it, but there has to be some force of nature that gives an advantage to the lefties. M...

Take a look at the Sanyo Xacti Digital Camcorder. It is waterproof, 6.0 Megapixel - Takes both Stills and video.

I've had mine on the water a fair amount - and underwater too - No complaints yet...

Bruce, If you are outfitting a Composite boat, In my opinion I would forget the vinyl patches and just glass in the strap anchors or D-rings. There is a great discussion of the topic at the following link; http://cboats.net/cforum/viewtopic.php?t=6204 I personally hate those vinyl patches with the D...

Frankly I have had little to do with USACK, as I haven't actively raced since '96 - But I have seen very little back from them in that time. At least the old system through NSWC/ACA had an active role in developing younger paddlers and the above mentioned ranking system was also a positive thing. I ...

The frayed rope method works well, but if you are worried about the hull flexing under it, there is another method we used. Required Items - 1) A couple of plastic soda straws - McDonalds preferred (a bit bigger than others. 2) 3 - 5 strips of kevlar tape (2" width is plenty) 3) epoxy 4) Plastic Wra...

MEK is preferred, as it will actually dissolve the abs on the boat as well and will improve the bond - BUT Make sure you wear gloves and preferably a respirator - it is pretty nasty stuff As previously stated, thin coats is best. You can probably put a few thin coats on, then go away for an hour, pu...

These days I'm kinda partial to the WildWater Helmets. Check with Davey at www.daveyhearn.com - They are about as close to the old Seda Kevlar as you can get these days.

I've been very pleased with mine for a number of years.

It is better than no boat at all, but not by much.

A friend and I paddled one a number of years ago - because plastic was required for the citizen's race we entered. We were actually faster in a properly outfitted ME...

I haven't seen anything on vacuum bagging or resin infusion at Sweet Composites, so you probably need to look at www.fibreglast.com

Go to the learning section.

They also sell the supplies you would need - BUT they are quite expensive compared to others.

I can tell you that the effort of building the boat is a whole lot less than building the plug and getting it ready to be molded. Also the resin infusion method used there is a great process. You can position all of the materials in the mold and check for vacuum leaks long before you mis the first d...
