C1 Insert Help

Hey Cboats. I need some help. I've been spending a lot of time designing a C1 insert with the intent on making it commercially available... I need a range of lengths to design around. - If you have a kayak or converted C1, how far apart are your foam pillars? - Is the factory bolt hole for foot rail...

Re: Cracked Taureau

The seam splitting on a Taureau is really common. I wouldn't call it a crack....

If you are still concerned about it breaking put some small pop rivets along seam. I would even rivet to a small plastic plate on the inside as well.

Shouldnt take more than 20 minutes :)

Re: Cracked Taureau

If you need filler plastic just cut it from the cockpit rim or similar. I have heard of them being welded fine before. From my understanding, it is tricky to weld because the burning temperature is close to the melting temperature. If it oxidizes the weld won't be strong. Try hot air welding it norm...

Re: Best foot forward?

Your legs likely aren't an even distance in the bulkhead or straps anyways. I wouldn't worry too much about it.

Re: 2" cam buckle that WON'T slip

Cool. How do you tighten the seat belt buckle? One of my buddies has one but the webbing still slips on the tightening side. I'm thinking I will attach a ratchet strap to the buckle. Tighten with the ratchet and have the buckle for quick release only. Are there any good places online to get them? Dave

ratchet strap/snowboard strap

Looking to put some ratchet straps in a C1. I've seen straps from snowboard bindings used before. Any recommendations on the best place to buy?

Re: Replcement gunwales - where do I get them?

Easy fix would be wood. Also look for a trashed tandem boat, can cut then off and rivet on.

Re: Kayak roll? What the &**%$#. @>)))

maybe learning to roll a canoe is easier by starting in a kayak! I actually have to disagree. I've taught a couple of people to roll and it is always way harder teaching a kayaker than someone that is new to paddling. The muscle memory from rolling a kayak makes them switch to a weird high brace th...

Re: boat advise for semi-newbi?

Really cant go wrong with a L'edge or Option. PE is stronger, slides off of rocks better and is WAY easier to fix. You will hear a lot of different opinions, but you really you can't go wrong with either. If your nervous dropping the cash on one, buy a used one. You can probably re-sell it for what ...

Wouldn't mind seeing that video, Dave! :) Cool. Just threw some clips together for you. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cATMYFEzsH8&feature=youtu.be" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; Notice how the boat is already near 90 degrees by the time I am in the 'normal' rolling position. Dave

Re: Teaching Canoe Rolling?

Sweep paddle underwater to initiate the roll, pulling the paddler to the surface... Flip paddle blade over and roll up. Works great because you can use your paddle blade to assist setup in nasty rolling places. I can post a video later if you want. I'm 5'7 and like a short paddle. I can't get in an ...
