Re: tandem rolling

Try this link. We threw two low-brace practice runs then threw the roll on our first attempt. (this is with bowman switching.) Communication was pretty easy. Bowman sets up and waits for the stern to initiate when you feel the roll begin just low brace up. If this link is inaccessible I can try to p...

Re: Half the paddle...

The three piece photo from Creeker illustrates that the bottom 5 inches or so of shaft is taken up with the blade. Realistically, a two piece might be all I get out if it then. It looks like they make their 3 piece by not gluing the blade in, but instead having a push button connector. has anyone tr...

Re: What's the most forgiving beginner boat still made?

Probe 12 is my go-to "stick a beginner in it" boat. Good success rates, classic design. It responds well and predictably if driven hard, but it aces the river on auto pilot if you just don't grab the gunwales. When I was between boats, I used it myself for the first time in years. I was pleased at h...

Half the paddle...

So I'm slicing a gently used AB edge into two or three pieces to become a breakdown for my prelude/general spare/unknown future use. Question: where to saw it in half. I'm willing to try making a three piece, but it will I think fit in my current boat as two and that would be less cuts/work/weakness...

Re: Recommended bilge float switch?

Has anyone tried something like this? Looks to be designed for aquariums, mostly. http://www.amazon.com/Liquid-Water-Horizontal-Switch-Aquarium/dp/B0056EWADA/ref=pd_sim_hi_1" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; There are a few variations on mounting hardware/setup. any thoughts? Re: Pump or no pump?

Oh, and I have pumps in a Prelude and love it. With low volume, It pumps out in just a few secs. (especially after a quick roll.) I use a high amp hour lead acid battery, no dry-boxes or any of that silliness, just an easy on/off connector and electrical tape. No problems with shorting, etc. lasts s...

Re: Pump or no pump?

Yes, Yes. But i like to really work the river when I'm on it. I'm catchin' eddies, surfing everything, trying weird ferries, attempting moves i don't know if I can do. I love it. but it makes me one of the last paddlers to head downstream, and it tends to fill up your boat. Especially on a wide rive...

Re: better... easier ???

I have enjoyed testing out the newer designs and have been lucky enough to put my hands on them (at least briefly). However the things that have vastly improved my paddling skills have been: *paddling for a week straight (fortuitous rain and schedule last summer) and *paddling more rivers and more d...

Re: T-Grip Attaching

JB weld was recommended here. I used it for wood t-grip to Werner Bandit shaft (fibergass?) no failure one very solid year later. Tricky to find a way to let it set up square. You might think about that ahead of time. I used rubberbands and luck.

Thanks, link updated. It is another video with some spectator commentary and some insight into what caused some of those flips (karma for dogfighting @the lip, perhaps?)

I know that this Spanish Fly is available, and is a sweet, one-of-a kind boat in mint cond. for just a hair more.

Re: Red Can needs a friend.

Hmm.. Good advice and I am sorry to have ever doubted the Red Can. Re: Gorilla Glue. Separate from the foam gluing, I was planning on trying expanding GG as a quick/cheap fix to fill the foam void and stiffen up a delaminated hull section. All the beta I had on Roylex repair said get the hull very, ...

Red Can needs a friend.

So what do you use for gluing foam when you need to slide things into place (i.e. longer working time than contact cement)? I'd like a sturdy bond. Does Weldwood without drying first For instance when gluing a PVC water channel under/through the saddle. I tried gorilla glue on a wedge of foam (to fo...

There's starting to be a lot of neat boats out there to buy...

You sure you don't want to dump your old, stable hull off on me, and put that cash toward something snappy?
