Re: Kayak conversions—and catching up!

I thought of the Dagger Axiom as well. If Heavy D's experience was at all like mine, the Redline was too small for big boys, but the Axiom looks to be a larger version with nice lines. Also check your paddling clubs in Portland, Seattlle and BC, there may be some Atoms, Cascades or Finks around. Goo...

Re: Northwest Paddle Fest 2017

Depends who ask. There will people in drysuits out of habitat - nice to have you want to risk some flips or if the weather isn't perfect. And there will be people without drysuits. If the weather is hot, as it often is, you might see a few people in shorts & t-shirts. Basically, you can't go wrong! ...

Re: Getting back

Blackfly Octane 91. Maybe an Esquif L'Edge Lite.

I find many of the exciting new boats don't carry weight too well for those of us north of 200 lbs.

Re: Northwest Paddle Fest 2017

Well, you've got the ShinDig Brian. Do you still have the ShinDig? I always meant to show up at that sometime. Thanks Cheeks/Blackfly (and other instigators)! This is 15 years overdue for my paddling, but better late than never!! Hopefully a PNW gathering will do good things and carry over throughou...

Re: Seattle Area Paddling

PTTC would be the good-to people. Some runs to consider would be on the Skykomish, or I highly recommend the Middle Middle run on the Snoqualmie - solid, steady, beautiful class III or III+ ish.

Have fun, Pat.

Rick,

Genesis for sale for $750 on MEC in Lethbridge, along with an interesting Kevlar Mad River Cyclone (never heard of it).

Re: Reuse, recycle. . .

You had me at cheap. I think the Genesis would be worth a go! In fact, if search that on here, I think there are some posts about this already that mention the Genesis as a tandem.

PIK your eddy

My name being what it is, I'll always be partial to PAT. On one hand, I think MITH is just re-naming the same ideas: momentum is power, initiate is angle. On the other hand, there's nothing wrong with that, because different framing will click better for different people. A big problem I see with ta...

Re: Reuse, recycle. . .

Hi Rick, Right here in the Beaver club Dan B has a tandem H2Pro that is pretty great. I think that's a good hull for it. And I think Don F. here had a converted Viper 12, but mostly for a kid in the front seat. He was trying to sell it a while back, not sure what happened with it. I've also heard of...

Re: new video

Thanks Paul.

The answer probably wasn't obvious to me (until I read it) because I don't think I've ever been on a big, smooth 3:10 wave, I tend to be on 2:10 rivers and waves, so couldn't make the comparison.

Thanks again, Pat.

Re: new video and free boat.

Hi Paul, Thanks for new video. Nice wave. One surf video led to another - yeah, although the month of sun & snow has turned backed to rain today, nothing's been flowing even on the West coast - and now I've got a question if you don't mind... From another of your surfing videos: https://www.youtube....

I'm 178 cm and 84 kg. Eh, sorry. Love it. You'll be just fine here RiverKen! I really wish that I didn't weigh over 220 lbs, but on the brightside 100 kg is a very easy conversion to remember! :-? Manitoba is the province that gets all the credit for being friendly, but we'll take of you here on th...

Re: BC Whitewater

I'll avoid any cracks about the recent election, or the cost of living in Vancouver and skip to the paddling... Vancouver's OK, decent local paddling in the winter, and good paddling within 90 mins (Squamish or Chilliwack areas), so there's always something, and decent diversity for small creeks or ...

Re: Viper 12 to try in northern WA or southern BC?

There's been a few glass Viper 12s for sale in BC in recent years, in fact, you just missed one! Maybe "Pierrre" (Rick) still knows of one? For info on local boats, you might want to ask around on a more local forum too: http://paddlenet.myfastforum.org/index.php" onclick="window.open(this.href);ret...
