Re: Lets hear it...

Tried one out recently, and I'm sold, too. As tough as they are gorgeous.

Alex - no. The edge is dynel rope.

Walsh stinks.

I have to go to a bachelor party.

The fates are conspiring against my return to Tandemonium.

Re: Drakkar Wheelboy

I thought that the Wheelboy had a standard c-1 slalom cockpit (considerably smaller than a k-1 keyhole cockpit.)

Re: Crucial tip for having a good roll

I heard a yarn this weekend about a seasoned big water boater taking a beating in a hole, and rolling up afterwards on a Perception saddle with no boat attached.

Re: C-Boaters with nose plugs?

Nose clips are totally unnecessary for open boating. The standard lame response for a gratuitous swim out of a kayak is "I didn't have my nose plugs on!" The corollary for canoes is "I fell out of my outfitting!" or "My thigh strap pulled loose!" If one swims extremely frequently on a single run, th...

Re: Do you roll with your eyes open or closed?

I generally roll with my eyes open, although I had to go to the river and go through the motions last night to see if this was still the case. I suspect that if I'm not relaxed enough to peek at where I am, I'm probably not relaxed enough to execute a roll. I have lost exactly one contact in whitewa...

Re: Mad River Howler for big water (Grand Canyon)?

Jim, the Howler paddled solo feels like an enormous Spark. The speed is awesome, but it's only 28" wide with no tumblehome at the center, and not a lot of volume in the bow. It has hard chines (as in the hull sides and bottom form nearly a 90 degree angle). Unless you are willing to work for the lin...

Re: Hatin' on airbags

Georgia Tech still has a Sunburst II outfitted with a kneeling thwart and huge pieces of open cell foam.

Anyone here live through the days of tractor inner tubes? Seems like the outfitting could have outweighed the craft...

Re: Tandemonium / Tandemnation

Thanks, J. I will be schlepping our Probe 14 up, but I'm kind of thinking that the C2 might do a lot to enhance domestic tranquility on one ofthe days. This lady I know has little patience for dry lines, and less patience for bailing.

Re: Tandemonium / Tandemnation

This is now on my calendar. Would there be interest in t-shirts this year? (yes, I'm volunteering to coordinate.)

Nice running into you at Sandy Hook, J.

Dagger buckles

An outdoor consignment shop in my neighborhood got a pile of plastic buckles in which I'm pretty sure are identical to the ones that came with Dagger C-1 saddles. They do not have a release mechanism per se, but are curved adjustable ladder lock buckles for 2" flat webbing. They seem to be charging ...

Re: Tandemonium / Tandemnation

Has anyone made an effort to reach out to the boys at Blackfly? They're the ones pushing the tandem envelope these days. It would be pretty cool to have them show up, and they might sell an Octane or two.

Most of these dates look good. Marissa and I are in, as long as I can dynamite her out of the buttboat for a day. Last one we made was 07 . . . :o
